I tried chewing gum and that worked for a bit. The thing that reaqlly helped me quit was my fiance though. Not through gentle support but by having a right proper nag at me everytime I lit up. This has really helped me to quit! Seriously!
Get someone you love to really tell you off everytime you light up, you'll soon stop!
Good luck.

try chewing gum, try the patch, try to cut down on how much you smoke like if u smoke 20 cigs away cut it down to 17 and cut down little by little each day

I quit smoking 1 year ago was the best theing I ever did. I used commit to start out with for like 3 weeks or so and then i used hard candy like cinnimon candy and mints that helped out alot. Quitting was easy for e but alot of it is in the head you got to want to quit also.

That's exactly how I felt when I quit cold turkey and I never looked back... Your ready, just quit.

EXACTLY! thats first step of fighting your addiction..... admitting the nasty addiction should be illegal. Now time to fight it..... you can use nicotine patches and tablets that helps to get rid of nicotine cigerette temptations. You can get help with this problem by contacting a NHS stop smoking group in UK and in other countries probably have similar organisations that can help you........ But it will only work if you are willing to commit to giving up 100% and go all the way!

talk to your Doctor about chantics it works

Try the Nicotine Lozengers that you can buy,i thought that they we're really good.I use to Smoke, haven't had one now for nearly (7 Months).... I certainly feel alot better as a result of giving up. Try them and i hope that they work for you too as they did for me. Good Luck.

I tried every method out there, Zyban it helped but I started back, gum same result, patches ditto. I was not successful until I quit cold turkey, going on 7 years this year. It is no party I promise. You are on the right path by confirming to yourself what a waste it is to smoke.beyond the health there is the cost, we raise hell about gas prices, yet we give the richest corporations in the world our hard earned money to kill us, when fresh air is free. I talked to myself for a couple of weeks telling myself what a ridiculous habit it was and finally wrote it down in my diary that I quit and haven't since.

i did not plan to quit, i got the flu virus and i was struggaling to breathe so i packed in smoking that was 6 days ago and i dont even miss it. in the past i have triend endless times and ended up smoking again, but when it comes to my health or a smoke then there is only one choice. only you can decide how to quit but i would reccommend new leaf , there is all sorts of products now and if you are confident you will do it.

It sounds like you have lots of reasons to quit. Why not make a list, and put it up in your house, and carry a copy around with you. Whenever you feel like smoking, remind yourself exactly why you shouldn't.

If you really want to stop, that's half the battle won. Have a look at the NHS stop smoking website which has lots of advice, and can also help you to find local services for extra support.

If you look for advice,( unbiased) the most common will be ,patches, gum zyban etc.. These all statistically have a low success rate.
Books etc... Allen Carr leads the pack here.. he is the Guru and should have been given a knighthood for his work. Neil Casey also has written a very interesting book which usually works with those who slip through Allen Carrs net.
Champix is a new method with good reports, but i believe your doctor needs to prescribe it.
Then there is Hypnotherapy which also has a varied degree of success.
I personally recommend the Allen Carr method ( they do run money back clinics so you have nothing to lose)
The fact that you want to stop means you are half way to stopping already... Its very easy when you know how... its an understanding how nicotine works (neil casey "The nicotine trick" ) and then the penny drops and its all understood. Simple as that... Good Luck...
PS.. i stopped 5 yrs ago with Allen Carr and have researched nicotine addiction ever since..
