What can I do to get better soon?!

Question: I'm sick right now with the common cold, so there's really no use in pestering my doctor. Basically, I have a cough, a little sore throat, and I'm a little sore.

What are some things that you do to help you get well quicker? Green tea? Vitamin C? A certain type of food?

Anything would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I have the same symptoms and I've been using Mucinex to break up the phlegm, drinking tea with honey and eating chicken noodle soup. When I go to bed I bundle up to sweat the cold out. Good Luck!

Drink lots of water (preferably distilled water) green tea is good because it has anti-oxidant properties, also Vitamin C. I chew one whole garlic clove and swallow. It does burn, BUT the allicin in it is a natural penicillin, which is an antibiotic. Also eat lots of fruits and veggies to help your system spend as little time and energy possible processing your food. & the best part is taking HOTT baths, to help you sweat it out. Good luck & I hope you feel better!

A LOT of OJ. Usualy takes care of mine in a single day, no joke!

Vitamin C has not effect on the cold, although a boost to your regular intake wouldn't hurt. Moderate amounts of energy drinks (the isotonic ones like powerade, NOT red bull or relentless) will help you feel less run down and, assuming you aren't eating normally, give you energy needed. Other than that, it really is a matter of time.

Every person i born with a cure for the cold... there are two white blood cells in the whole body that know the necessary stuff to cure you. The recovery time is simply how long your body takes to find these guys. (Obviously that is a very simplified version).

1. Medicine: Theraflu. It works best for me; but make sure to take the one formatted in powder; so you can mix and dissolve in warm water. There's Theraflu tablets too, but the powder is stronger and helped me get well faster.

2. Vitamin C and Zinc. Recently, the medical research has showed Zinc is one of the factors to help you recover fast from the cold.

3. Green tea as you said. Besides, lemon juice with some honey but don't add ice.

4. Fruits as apple, orange, grapes,...or drink those fruit's juice.

5. Good food to give you more energy like meat and hot soups.

6. Next time, when you just start or before you go out somewhere may make you get cold, take Airborne. It's a name of a medicine/supplement to help boost your immune system. No prescription needed and not expensive either. You can buy it at any drug store as CVS, Walgreen, Sav-on Drugs,..., or even at Target, Walmart, Albertsons,...

Good luck and get well soon!
