Why do I still get dizzy if i cover my ears?!

Question: I know that the cause of dizzyness comes from somewhere in the inner ear..

Answers: I know that the cause of dizzyness comes from somewhere in the inner ear..

Because dizziness has nothing to do with the outside of your ear, or the air around it.

You are correct, dizziness is caused by a structure in the inner ear. Simply put, there is a tiny "shell" in there, with sensors in it. There is "fluid" in the "shell", and when we move around, lie down, spin, etc... the fluid moves inside of the "shell" and sets off the sensors, which tell the brain what position you are in.

Sometimes, like when you spin around, the fluid keeps moving, which sends signals to your brain that you're still moving! but your eyes and body are saying "no we're not moving!" and you end up with the "confusion" of signals that we feel as "dizziness".

So it is physical movement itself, in relation to gravity that cause the "sensors" to be triggered by the structure in your inner ear. That is why covering your ears has no bearing on whether or not you feel dizzy.

I don't know but I just tried it!
