*hugs* no, your FINE...you actualy doooo need to eat. You need to gain some weight. you won't get FAT.

after not eating for awhile, your stomach dosn't want to accept food. Then after a week or 2(PAY ATTENTION HERE) you will 'suddenly' get hungry again and want to eat

but what you shouldn't do is eat all the CANDY u want. eat healthy foods. you won't get fat...you might gain weight, true, but YOU NEED IT.

at this time, you just need to eat when your hungry. If that means eating smaler meals many times a day, then do it. fruit is very very very very healthy. extramly. you can't get fat from fruit.

2 pounds isn't alot. Most people won't notice it unless they are weighing you. it's negligable.
STOP weighing yourself. you'll feel better when you stop focousing on the number.

Uh oh ! I'm 14 so i don't know if I'm the best person to give you advice but .. i'd say eat fruit and vegtables ! they fill you up and you wont put on weight.

4 pack???
They were probably what are commonly known as 'ribs'.

My best advice is to seek the help of a nutritionist. They can help you design an eating plan that won't overwhelm you, but will help you get back to a healthy weight without making you gain more weight than necessary. Talk to your family and see if they would be willing to help you get a nutritionist, as you're only 13 and probably not legally able to make these kinds of decisions on your own.

As for the weight gained, I highly down it went straight into fat. However, if you've been severely restricting for a long period of time, when your body finally gets a lot of food, it holds on to it. It doesn't necessarily turn into fat though, much of it is used to provide your body with new energy. Those two pounds were honestly probably just water weight, as that can also happen when you go from restricting to eating a lot.

Good luck! :)

im 13 too and i think all thats happening because your body is changing due to puberty. i had to eat fruits and vegetables ...and i also needed mineral salts

hope this helps

It is normal to start feeling really hungry when you're recovering from anorexia because you are underweight and your body is trying to tell you that it needs more calories in order to return to a state of health. Please believe me, I dealt with this disease for 20 years starting when I was 11, do NOT starve yourself again. Keep doing what you need to do to recover NOW. Your body is seriously in need of normal eating patterns at this age. You will end up very short & very sick if you continue to use symptoms of anorexia. You are NOT gaining all fat right now. It is acceptable to do SOME cardio and weight training while you are in recovery, IF you can handle keeping it under control and eating a healthy amount of calories EVERY SINGLE DAY. You need not worry about losing muscle then. Your dietitian and physician should be telling you how much you need to eat. If you are hungry this is a good sign that your metabolism has fired up again! Eat when you are hungry and do cardio and weight training every day and you can hardly go wrong.

Nothing is "wrong" with you at all. I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you say the you "had anorexia" for several months. Anorexia is a serious mental illness and it is not easily cured. Do you have anorexia or were you just acting anorexic, refusing to eat and losing a lot of weight? Were you diagnosed as anorexic by a professional? Have you been under the care of someone with experience in helping girls deal with this very serious illness? Anorexia is not something you can just deal with over a few months and then be cured. It sounds like you have major body image issues and eating issues and that you need someone to help you. If you weigh barely 80 pounds, you do need to gain weight and you should be gaining weight. It also sounds like you probably (as is common with anorexia) have no real idea what it means to be hungry. Feeling hungry can be a purely physical need to eat (something which anorexics learn to completely ignore) and it can also have a huge emotional component to eat that causes people to want to eat (or not eat) whether they are actually physically hungry or not. It sounds like your body is in need of eating and being fed, and chances are your mind (your self) needs to be reassured (a lot) that you will allow yourself to eat and be fed. These are not issues with easy fixes. Please find help for yourself. You need to work with someone who really understands anorexia and can be of real help to you. Find someone you like and feel comfortable with and can trust and that knows the issues you are dealing with. Do not expect to be able to get useful advice from friends or the internet. You have an illness and you need to be under the care of someone who knows how to treat your illness.

Thirteen is horrible without anorexia; luckily you won't stay 13 forever. On the other hand, the anorexia and binging might be something that you will have to manage forever (but the longer you are recovered the easier it will get.) First, what medical care are you getting? You need a psychiatrist who has experience in this area. Our brain chemicals are complicated and have to be in just the right amounts and working properly in order for us to experience some things in a "normal" way. Hunger and appetite control are one of the many things that are affected by our brain chemicals and how they are functioning. I have had clinical depression since I was 13 but I didn't end up getting a psychiatrist until I was 30. I am now 37 and I have developed a very good relationship with my psychiatrist. She doesn't push drugs on me but she has helped me accept that my life is easier and more enjoyable when I consistently take an antidepressant. I manage my depression with medication but we are trying to manage my binging without medication. I have been working on this with her for almost a year and we have identified some patterns but no major breakthroughs. BUT...one really, really interesting thing happened when I first started to take anti-depressants ----- For several months I had a perfectly normal appetite. If felt so strange to me because when I felt full I didn't have any desire to keep eating. That experience really made me believe that it has a lot to do with the same brain chemicals that I was taking the medication for. Unfortunately, the normal appetite thing didn't last for more than a few months. Now I am back to the way I was before and it is frustrating and it is so hard for other people to understand. It's not that I don't get full; I do feel full but I still can't stop eating. I eat past the point that I feel sick and if have access to any sugary stuff then I can't stop thinking about it until I have eaten all of it. It feels like somebody turned off a switch in my brain that tells me to stop eating when I am full. I have to keep working on this but I can tell you that you need to find a psychiatrist you can trust. BTW my 13 year old daughter has a six pack and I think the comment about your ribs was rude. Also, two pounds gained is not enough for anyone elso to be able to notice. It's hard to tell a person has gained weight until it's more like ten pounds. I am sure your family is telling you the truth when they say they can't tell.
