PLEASE HELP! Family sleeps a lot and other symptoms ....?!

Question: I don't know what to do, my pediatrician says "don't worry about it" but my 4 yr old son sleeps A LOT on avg he goes to sleep by 9-10p and I have to drag him out of bed by 8:30a to go to pre-k, he gets a 2hr nap there and they have to force him awake he comes home @ 4 and is practically sleep walking I have to keep him up until 930 if he goes to sleep any earlier he wakes up in the middle of the night. He's also very itchy, no rash, redness NOTHING he has sperodic periods of diarreah and barely eats, not even his favorites. This all started back in October when we moved into my new apt. Myself and my husband and 9 month old also have the same symptoms, other than the eating, we have no appitite but we eat. Any thoughts?

Sounds like there might be something toxic in your apartment. If your whole family experiences the same symptoms, and it started when you moved into your apartment, and it's something that's affecting the entire household, it's probably related to the apartment building. Don't wait! Contact your county health department and tell them your concerns. I would let your landlord know also, and ask other tenants if they have any issues like this.

First thought stress, and go from there.

Have your gas appliances checked by a registered engineer. They could be leaking carbon monoxide. And get a little carbon monoxide detector for each room from your local hardware store.

It may be related to the surroundings

I disagree with your pediatrician. 4 year olds should be in bed around 8 pm. More than anything they need sleep. If you have trouble getting him down try a warm bath and a bedtime story before you put him down. Eventually he will get used to it and not wake up in the middle of the night anymore. The itching could possibly be allergic reactions to either the water or laundry detergents. Try fragrance free detergent. You may want to get the water tested, you wouldn't believe the bacteria in drinking water, over 200 and the goverment only checks for roughly 60 of those.
