No, you do not get herpes FROM the cold, you already have the virus lying dormant in your system and the cold weakens your immune system which allows the virus to surface.

Think about it. They call 'cold sores' and 'fever blisters' what they call them for a reason - because they alwasy rear their heads when you have a cold or fever, i.e. when your immune system is compromised. The rest of the time your body can keep the herpes virus in check, but it means she must have had it beforehand.

Actually, you don't get herpes from chicken pox. Chicken pox is a herpes virus, but a different herpes virus, and one can't change into the other. The viruses that cause cold sores and genital herpes are hsv-1 and hsv-2. Cold sores, or oral herpes, is often caught as a child from being kissed by someone else who is infected - by their teenage years, well over half the population already has oral herpes. Genital herpes is usually caught as an adult through sexual contact, either receiving oral sex from someone who gets cold sores or having intercuurse with someone with genital herpes. Flare ups of both can be caused by having a cold. I have genital herpes, and always get an outbreak when I get a cold.

the cold triggered the outbreak of the herpes, but did not cause the herpes, she had the virus as a result of having chicken pox as a child. Any decline in the immune system can cause the virus to become active.

Yes, people get herpes on there mouth all the time..when they have a cold. Havent you seen them? i have.
