What's wrong with me? Paxil, chest pain, stupid doctors?!

Question: I had an intense chest pain and difficulty breathing this past Thursday, so I went to the ER. After being checked, the doctor told me that my blood, EKG and x-ray results didn't show any problem. She said that it was probably acid reflux, and so I spent the entire day taking Maalox. On Friday morning, the pain and pressure continued, which made me go to a clinic to get a different opinion. This doctor told me that it was an anxiety attack which had caused these symptoms. I really disagree with him, because I don't feel anxious or depressed. Anyway, he prescribed 10mg of Paxil for 30 days. I've already purchased the medication, but after reading about the side effects, I'm not sure if I will take them. The real problem that I have is that I still continue to have the chest pain, although the pressure has gone away since Saturday. What should I do? I'm running out of ideas.

Paxil does have some serious side effects, and it is not a medication you can just stop taking, so please be sure you want to continue it.

You need to get a regular doctor who will do a history and physical to see if this really is anxiety and what the cause could be.

Good luck.

Wow the same thing happened to me a few years ago...I ad just had my 2nd child and I began to get the worse chest pains. It was like a cramping in my chest. I thought i was having a heart attack. I went to the er and they ran all the test on me. Same thing I was told acid reflux..When I continued to have these pains I went back to my dr and discovered I was having aniexty attacks..I have been on Celexa for several years after many different meds I find this one works the best for me..I still have the attacks from time to time if I get really stressed but not as often as I once did...
