What exactly is a FISTULA?!

Question: A fistula is an abnormal connection between two parts inside of the body. Fistulas can happen because of injury, infection or inflammation. It's an Adult D V D .

In what sense?

A fistula in nephrology is where an artery is linked to a vein to provide access to the blood supply so that dialysis can be performed.

my twin boys boys both had fistula's when they were born, they are small holes that are there when you are born, basically i was told that they are glands that sometimes don't have time to form before you are born, my twins had them on their neck and were called bronchial fistulas, where the hole connects straight up to the nasal and saliva ducts in which they used to leak fliuds like saliva and bogeys, they had a short stay in hospital and a small operation to close the tract. i hope that has helped. seanie.xxx

A fistula is a very painfull internal boil , i would get it check out at your docters surgery he might have somthing for the pain

Hi, in the medical field a fistula is a passage between organs: an abnormal opening or passage between two organs or between an organ and the skin, caused by disease, injury, or congenital malformation
Some babies are born with an anal-rectula fistula. In a baby girl this would mean that there is another small passageway and opening around the perinium (between the vagina and anus). I know of this type of fistula as i know a baby girl who was born with an Imperforate anus and anal rectula fistula ~ which meant she had a fistula instead of a rectum. This is closed and restructured with surgery. She is okay now. I guess there are other types of fistulas but i don't have any understanding of them.
I hope this has helped.

Happy new year x
