Organ donor?!

Question: Would you donate your organs?

I came across this thought that organ surgerys and $1,000s of dollars. People who are donors-- donate and give up there organs for free. But then hospitals charge these sick and in need of medical help patients all this money using organs that they got for free. I think that organ surgery should be less and hospitals shouldn't make money off sick people who need a certain organ to survive and dead people who give them up.

The hospital does not charge for the organ itself. What they have to charge for is the medications they give the organ reciever, and the normal charges for surgery, bed, care by staff, etc.
The family of the donor does not get charged for the surgeries to remove the donated organs.

Remember that everyone that works at a hospital, including the doctors, work for a pay check. We have to be paid too, or we would be working at Walmart. The hospital has to charge the patient for care to cover their expenses.

They don't in the UK!

You have that a little screwed up there. In order for an organ to be donated it has to be viable and the donor most likely has been injured and is now on life support at the expense of their family. The organs are "harvested", transported to the recipient and the transplant is done at the expense of the recipient. Nothing is done for free and nothing is free. Transplanting an organ can be expensive and someone has to pay. In actuality both parties have expenses.

there is more than the cost of the organ. doctors bills hospital stay $4000 a day for ICU other costs involved in the surgery all add to the cost organ replacement
