I can't sleep at night, because I worry 24/7. Help?!

Question: Are there tricks to stop worrying? I constantly worry about many things, and I can't seem to stop.

I know how you feel. I have suffered all my life with this. Most of the times I worry over nothing. I tried medication to help me sleep and that works. I also found that clearing your mind (I know it is hard) works, as silly as it sounds counting will help, listening to music, and reading. I also wait until I am extremely tired and then I go to bed. I had a teacher once tell me to give yourself 15 minutes a day to worry. Once your 15 minutes are up that is it. He usually would sit and do this before or after breakfast. This has helped me. When I go to sleep and I start to worry I remind myself that my 15 minutes are up. Good luck. If these don't help try talking to your doctor.

When I worry I do yoga..it may sound stupid but it actually works!!

As soon as you start worrying tell yourself to STOP even if you have to say it out loud. And then immediately think about something positive, funny or something you are looking forward to doing.

YES i know. You should relax do yoga also look forward to something possitive watch some tv shows that are possotive!
goodluck

I have the same problem almost every night. What I do is I get up and watch a little TV or read...and if that doesn't work, I write down what I am worried about in a little Worry Journal I keep. It really helps and you can look at it later and realize that most of what you were worrying about did not happen, or that it was not as a big deal as you thought it would be.
