Childhood vaccinations?!

Question: With the growing theory that childhood vacinations may be linked to autism, do you think that getting these vacinations outweighs the risks?

There are so many unknowns with this, and too many times parents are told what to do instead of being able to make informed choices. Do the risks outweigh the benefits? I dont think so. I myself have had severe reactions to vaccinatins, and will not allow myself to be experimented on, not will I vaccinate my children.

Its not a growing theory any longer, in fact some of the authors of the report linking the MMR to autism are retracting their support.

I think making sure your child is protected by vaccinations is imperative. Its like leaving them in a mosquito-ridden swamp without even trying to protect them from malaria! You wouldn't do it.

Childhood vaccinations is not linked to autism just speculation at the moment as they guess what the cause it. And if it is it is definately better to immunise. Does any recall what polo medications do you? It can kill you or leave you with no hearing at all. These diseases that they immunise against are very nasty (polo, tetenus (you can get lock jaw), measles and mumps). These diseases can leave permanent brain damage or worse death. It is better to immunise than lose a child.
If you are American remember your child could sue you for damage caused from the disease from not immunising them.

Linking of autism to childhood vaccination is just a theory whereas it is a scientifically proven fact that vaccinations increase immunity of children against diseases linked with each vaccine.

Therefore, keeping aside the fact that most of our theories are based on assumptions, till more data is available it is reasonably safe to assume that it is more safer to go for vaccination than not.

Mara M...... I believe like my doctor stated when our children where small and growing up. The schools required that they were vaccinated. We didn't really want all of the shot's, until he stated then that there was coming a day when there would be an outbreak, just like with small pox, and all those who didn't get their vaccinations were going to be spreading it like then, and the lives taken would be of a great proportion. History has shown that history repeats its self. I had to agree. Does this have a link to autism, i'm sure that years from now they will prove it has a link, just like with all other medicine. I know a family that when polio was going around, they had 7 or 8 kidz, all were treated with the vaccine. The oldest had a reaction to the vaccine is in a wheelchair. He is a preacher, his kidz are Gospel singers with hits on the radio, and tv, and he stands on the Word of God that he will walk again! I also believe that. There are no promises with life, as we have all been aware off. I guess it would boil down to if you had your rathers. Would you rather have your kidz protected, or would you rather take a chance and lose your kidz because you didn't. Hope this has helped answer your question.
