Question: when you go in they will give you an iv for fluids and then you will speak with the anesthesiologist who will let you know what anesthesia they will give you and then you will be taken for surgery and when you come out you will not be allowed anything warm by mouth and they will bring you a tray with like ice cream milk juice etc. It will feel as though you have cotton in the back of your throat and you will be in a little bit of pain. The nurse will probably keep you for like 8 hours of obsevation and then if you don,t exhibit signs of vomiting or coughing up blood or a reaction to the anesthesia then you will be discharged with a prescription for an antibiotic and a prescription for a pain killer and then given instructions for diet for the first week and then you will have to be checked by you regular physician and they will determine whether or not you are returnable to work,school etc. and whether or not you are given more pain meds and antibiotics

it's a very quick operation. you'll love the ice cream after.
it's so simple and easy to do now, vs what it used to be like back when mine were taken out in the 50's.

Sorry ..My Doc said it was not necessary as it is a good guard against throat cancer...
