Why do I get dizzy and faint when I stand up quickly?!

Question: It's happend especially today but I get it a lot of the time. I got out of bed and felt really dizzy so I came downstairs and just relaxed for a bit but when I stood up and walked into my corridor, I fell down without even feeling it. I hit my head on the floor really hard and bruised my leg. I was laying there for a few seconds without feeling a thing but then it seemed all the pain returned to where I had hit the floor. I keep getting headaches before and afterwards as well and it occurs a lot. Well after that had happend I sat back down for a few more minutes but I stood up again and felt dizzy yet again and now here I am telling you what happend and my feet have been throbbing since it happend. Is this something I should be worried about?

Aside from some of the good advice you already have it may simply be that you are deficient in vitamin B12. Iron needs sufficient vitamin B12 in the body to be properly assimilated (absorbed) without it, no matter how much iron you ingest it will never be absorbed properly and will therefore display symptoms of iron deficiency anaemia .......... eat more foods rich in vitamin B12 ie: organ meats such as lambs fry and kidneys, skimmed milks and cheeses, fish and eggs.

Dizzy spells, fainting and loss of balance are symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency.

It is really important that you supplement your diet with a multi B complex tablet on a daily basis if you aren't eating a well balanced diet or if you are lactose intolerant or a vegetarian. The B complex of vitamins is essential for healthy immune, neural and digestive functioning. Get one including all the B's ie: B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12 as they work best as a group.

The B complex of vitamins is a water soluble complex and as such our bodies can neither store or produce them. therefore, we need to ingest them on a daily basis or suffer the consequences as you unfortunately appear to be ....

When you take your daily supplement ensure that you take it with some type of calcium rich food ie: low fat cheese (which is really low in lactose) or milk or a calcium supplement as B12 needs calcium to be properly assimilated by the body......... also calcium needs vitamin D to be properly absorbed so get at least 10 minutes of sun each day or eat cold water fishes such as tuna, sardines, whiting and salmon. These fishes are also rich in magnesium, which is known as the antistress mineral .... which is another thing you need to focus on. Your magnesium supplies are probably also low. Eat more foods rich in magnesium. ie: leafy and green vegies, nuts and seeds, wholegrains and cereals.

When our bodies are placed under added stress ie: sickness, new home, new job or just the grind of daily life really ...... the B complex of vitamins will usually be the first group to get used up and we therefore need to adjust our intake accordingly.

................ Other symptoms of B complex deficiency you may be suffering from are numbness and tingling and prickling sensations in the outer extremities (hands and feet and arms and legs), insomnia, fatigue and exhaustion, inability to concentrate clearly, irritability and moodiness, nausea and vomiting, excessive sweating, constipation, headaches and migraines, depression and even chest pains and heart palpitations......... !!

Quite scary actually if you don't reaise the vitamin factor.
When you are getting any stress related symptoms or any of the above mentioned symptoms simply take another vitamin B complex tablet. As they are water soluble, our bodies will simply excrete any excess in our urine.

Drinks loads of fresh filtered water too, as the healthiest and happiest body will always be the most hydrated one.

Try to cut back on the things that will rob you of your precious B complex of vitamins too ie: caffeine, sodas and soft drinks, alcohol are all brilliant B complex thieves ---- things such as the antidepressants, antibiotics, laxatives, aspirin, diuretics will also do a great job of robbing you of your B's.

please see your Doctor if you decide to supplement your diet with iron tablets as the liver has a hard time excreting excess iron in our bodies.

Take care of you?

CHEERS
?

Orthostatic hypotension. Gotta be careful with that. You'll probably grow out of it though.

Check with a doctor anyway.

Could be blood pressure related, but it could be something far more serious. You need to see a doctor. Don't ignore it.

Sounds like you got anemia.

That happened to me and it's low iron levels.

Consult your doctor immediately. .
Have a complete Blood Count, youre maybe anemic. .
Try Take iron evryday with Vit. C that boosts your immune system, avoid stresses and problems. .
For the meantime please check your Blood Pressure
Normal is 130/90

I had the same problem as you are having and I went to the Doctor and my Blood Pressure was very high. The Doctor put me on Medicine for it and the Headaches and dizziness have disappeared. It could be a number of things, like inner ear infection for example but DO go see a Doctor and get it checked. You do not want to mess around with high BP..

sounds like you may have orthostatic hypotension.....you should talk to you doc about it......unfortunately this won.t get better on its own

You may have high blood pressure or diabetes go to MD and have a blood check? those were mine symptoms and thats what i have .in the blood everything comes out so go in and have it check.
