What is the difference between Assisted living and Dependent Living facility?!

Question: assisted living is for elderly people who need a little help with things like getting up or making their food and stuff like that, but they have their own apartments and pretty much live on their own, with a little help. Dependent living is for the old people who are like...starting to go crazy or have problems wetting themselves, need help being fed and moved around, basically can't do anything for themselves and need constant observation.

Every management company defines it its own way. Consult the facility you're considering.

I think they're the same. Requiring assistance is by nature being dependent on outside help. The difference is between Assisted Living and Independent Living. Regular maintenance by aides is not required in Independent Living.

Assisted Living is where you live someplace and there is someone with you all the time like a nurse or something. Dependent living is where you live on your own but a nurse will periodically stop by to make sure your doing okay

assisted is you have some one there dependent isalone but in concect with 911 at all times

Assisted living is basically living in an apartment community where nurses come by to check on you, but you can do most things on your own. Dependent living is where the nurses and nurse's aides help you do many things. Dependent is generally in a home or nursing home setting. Many times, nursing homes have a separate building for assisted living, so that the nurses just have to walk over.

Dependent living is your typical nursing home scene. Assiste living is where the person can still take care of themselves like showering, and feeding and getting around themselves, but need someone there to keep an eye out, and help them out when they need it. Some assisted living places the residents have there own apprtments, where they can even prepare there own meals or go down to a dinning room. But they have staff check on them every few hours to make sure they haven't fallen or need help.

assisted living is where people that need very minimal assistance live. Most of these people live in apartments. Most of these facilties have orderlies come by and that may pick up their dirtly laundry to clean and give them their daily medication or just something as simple as check up on them or clean their room.
Dependent living are known as nursing homes here in florida and they are totally dependent. They typically are incontinent, can not get around very easily, may not remember things or people, have several medications, have very problematic medical histories, and the list goes on.

dependent-relying (on) for support; one relying on another

(These facilities have staff who help with all of the tenants needs, because they are incapable of doing most things on their own)

assisted-to help; aid

(these types of facilities have staff that is not required to be on duty 24 hours a day, as they are still capable of doing most normal things on their own.)

Assisted living allows for a lot more independence....people can pretty much do as they please, but there is someone around who can care for them if need be. Elders live in apartments, with all the amenities of home. Care facilities havs busses that go almost everywhere.

Dependent living is the typical old-style nursing home. Elders who cannot care for themselves, those who are bedridden, or in need of constant monitoring, are usually very good candidates for this.

Assisted living, also called a nursing home, is a home for the elderly where nurses basically tend to their every need. The individuals living there need more than "just a place to grow old". Many living there have alzheimer's, incontinence, mental conditions, or are just plain out not able to take care of themselves. A dependent living center, also called a retirement home, is usually a community that has detached villas, townhomes, as well as apartments all in a few blocks of each other. Most also have a community center with activities and groups scheduled through out the day. They have things such as bingo, socials, game night, ect. They are a place where someone who need to retire yet does not want to be alone moves.
Hope this helps.
