Marijuana for back?!

Question: i went to the doctors for some stomach problems and they ended up taking exrays of my back also because i mentioned my back also hurts sometimes... the exrays came back and i have a little bit of a crooked spine. i am 16 she said it might be scoliosis (however u spell that) but probably not.... anyway i was wondering how i go about getting a medical card for marijuana instead of her putting me on pain killers i dislike painkillers because they are addicting and stuff. the only thing is, is that since im 16 would they still give me one and would my mom have to sign? i do live in california! thanks everyone!!!
p.s. please do not tell me how marijuana is bad for you because i already know it is NOT (do your research)
peace.....

I'm skeptical. Forgive me if I'm wrong.

Even a family doctor can tell if a spine is curved from an xray. If this is "might be" territory, the curve must be minor at best.

Let's re-read his post. Does this sound like a major, chronic problem that is a candidate for a medical pot treatment? Hmmm. Some stomach problems, a back that hurts sometimes, possible scoliosis.

I'm really disappointed in you for thinking about getting a free pass for medical pot for a condition that causes an occasional ache. It sounds like you're spending more effort getting your medical card than actually, honestly trying to figure out what the ache is and how to take care of it. Talk about abusing the system. Sheesh.

Before anyone gets made at me for coming down on this guy, I spend a lot of time on a couple of sites dealing with support for really bad scoliosis cases. These people have constant pain that will not go away, at least without very major surgery, and even then the patient will have need for narcotics for the rest of their lives. (Hopefully a lower dose post-op, but still its not fun.) Some can't have surgery because their lungs have been squeezed by the curve. Some don't have insurance. Some can't get past the idea of doing something that may paralyze you. Its not a simple issue.

If I were you I would wait a few more years before going this route, let your brain have time to grow before smoking pot.
I know this is not the answer you are looking for, but I have been there done that.

You're under age. They will notify your parents... and listen... I realize you are probably already smoking pot... but you really shouldn't... until your older... and your brian is done growing.

ive never heard of anyone getting marijuana for scoliosis, but if you can get the gov. to give you pot you should def. do it.
good luck, and peace!

I don't have any issues with marijuana use if used in moderation like everything else but there are other alternatives to pain meds. Reiki, acupuncture, chiropractic, etc. Yes you spelled scoliosis correctly.

I know quite a bit about back pain as I just had surgery about 5 weeks ago. At no point did they offer me marijuana. The biggest issue against using marijuana for back pain is that it isn't a strong enough pain killer. Before they put you on the the opiates (the addictive stuff), they try you out on anti-inflammatories, NSAIDS like Advil, but usually stronger. If your back gets worse or that doesn't help, then they may begin with codeine or Vicodin, but first you have to try physical therapy, chiropractic, possible epidural injections etc. If you want to smoke pot, you'll smoke pot, but I sincerely doubt the docs will give it to you for back pain. It is not an across-the-board painkiller. It works for some things, but for back pain, there are many more effective things for pain control. BTW, if it is scoliosis, you'll most likely be fitted for a brace to correct the problem. I do sincerely hope your pain disappears soon.

you got to go see there Dr if there clinics where you live .take with your medical records like the one that says you have scoliosis and any pain killers you have.they well give you a license to buy weed. Here in Bakersfield California there was clinics and place where they sold weed but the feds closed it down now its in Los Angeles.its easy to get a license.i would have it if i wanted it.
