Is this infected? kinda gross details?!

Question: Ok so I have an ingrown toenail ( I know not to cut them short but i stubbed my toe and the nail broke WAY far down) I am growing it out but now it is very sore and VERY red! so red it is almost purple! my skin is peeling away from my toe. I pulled back the skin by my nail and really thick sticky yellow pus came out. does that mean it is for sure an infection?

You got that one right...it's infected...
So, here's what you do....
If you don't have any peroxide in your house...then soak your foot in some warm, salty water...
If you do have the means to get peroxide, then pour it right on that toe....and make sure you rinse it off with water...peroxide WILL eat your skin away if it's not rinsed off...
After you have soaked your foot, then gently lift the corner of the nail that's growing into the skin, out with nail clippers file....gently....it may take a few times to actually get the nail out from under the skin, so be patient...
Make sure that you put some antibiotic ointment on it and if you're going to wear a sock, cover the infected toe with a bandaid over the antibiotic ointment. Try to leave it open to the air as much as possible...
Soak the foot often, and after you do, try lifting the nail after every time you soak....it will be softer after it's soaked and it will be easier to do...
If all of this info fails, then you might have to go to the podiatrist...it will hurt like crap to let him do it...but what else are ya gonna do?
Hope this helps.

Definetally see a doctor. Put an ace bandage around the area so it doesn't get any worse. Also try neosporin.

Redness is a good sign of infection and yellow pus confirms it. You might want to see a doctor about this if it does not subside shortly. My husband had a severe ingrown toenail and had to have a lasered.

Try soaking your foot in warm water with epsom salt, that'll draw out the pus.

Yep. I did this once after a skating accident as a child. I just kept it clean. One day, I finally had the nerve to pull it back a little and it popped right off... yeah, i know it's disgusting and looks funny, but mine grew right back. The peroxide, epsom salt and neosporin thing sounds good to me.

Of course it's infected..get u some over the counter meds (peroxide perhaps) until u can get to your doctor to perscribe a better med for u. I know, I hate when people tell me to go c one, but it sounds like u kind of let it get out of control. If u don't know what to do for it or don't have someone else who really knows their stuff about things such as your problem, then go c a doctor..good luck
