When you apply for Social Security Disability do you meet with a claims speciali!

Question: Do they interview you? Do they do a medical evaluation seperate from what your doctors have. I never really went to a doctor just counselors and a nurse practitioner to prescribe me the medication. I often cancelled on my appoints and was not able to make it due to my disability. I do not feel these counselors have sufficient information to give social security detailed information.

You don't need a doctor's referral. They will send you to an exam only if they feel like they need more information to decide your claim. You will NOT receive a diagnosis or any therapy during or as a result of that exam. It's for informational purposes only.

They'll want records and will send you and someone else you designate a pretty extensive questionnaire regarding your daily activities and abilities.

Good luck.

yes they'll interview you,

Once you apply they check over your records on what your doctors have said if they believe them you will get your disability if they don't then you will have to see a doctor they pick and then again they will read over the records and if they don't believe that doctor then you go in front of a social security judge and then plea your case.

i AM DISABLED AND HAVE NEVER HAD AN EXAMINATION HAVE BEEN CLAIMIND dla FOR 7 YEARS NOW.What you have to do to not get an examination:Ask the doctor to examinate you then get a letter from your doctor explaining what your disability is and how it affects your everyday life and to put the date he examined you . and make sure you put it in with your claim pack. That is it what most ppl do is just put doctors address(physio). So then you have to have an examination. If you have had one within last three months of claiming they cant give you another one (hey presto DLA

I dint like your chances,A doctor normally has to fill in part of the paper work.also back ups from specialist are excellent.
Many years ago I was examined by one of their doctors who said at the time"who am I to questions your doctors" and nope I didn't get it either

You need to be active in therapy and psychiatrict appointments to even be considered for disability. Not too mention you have to have the doctor refer you for it. You can't just go BOO-HOO and expect to given cash. You have to be active in trying to make a better life for yourself before they look at you. If you sleep 20 hrs a day and don't even bother to attempt to get better they will tell you to shove off.
