Ativan is a benzodiazepines and it's generic name is lorazepam. I think you have Adderall. It's not speed, but it is related. It does some of the same things too. It raises your heart rate and can make you lose weight. You're probably taking it for ADHD and if you have it, it makes you calm down and focus and doesn't speed you up. Don't cut it in half or split it open, and take it as the doctor directed you to. The doctor prescribed that much for a reason and if you think it's too much, you should tell him or her.

Edit: Also, it will probably make you very awake and unable to sleep for about 6 hours after you take it, so don't take it for about 6-8 hours before bed.

It sounds like you are talking about Adderall and it is a stimulant mainly used to treat ADHD...
essentially yes, it is speed. It's OK to take half as long as it is not in extended release form, but let your doctor know. It is your body and there is nothing wrong with wanting to start out slowly. Don't let the dr intimidate you...ask any questions you have, voice any concerns. You have that right.

Ativan, generic name lorazapam, is a type of antianxiety medication called a benzodiazapine (also in that family; valium, xanax, Klonopin, etc.)

The names (adderall and ativan) are very similar, but the actions are quite different.

no its the opposite to dextrosamphetamine or (dexedrine) used in ADHD,
Ativan an anti depresant ( from the family of of drugs calledBenzodiazepins)
lorazepam is the actual substance .
Ativan is a trade name!

You should talk to your doc, and just out of curiousity why are you taking that everyday in the morning? Doesn't it knock you on your ***?

I am a great believer in following the doctors advice, but in a case like this, I would consult the pharmacist or the doctor.

I have no idea. Follow Doctor's dosage. If it's to strong, let him know asap.

Let me try some, let me try some, let me try some, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeese.
