Why do people have addictions to stuff that can kill you?!

Question: Seems like people are naturally self-destructive. Esp. if they had a bad childhood and they feel empty inside and never got the proper attention and love as a kid. They're left unable to feel good about themselves and so they beat themselves up because it is the only feeling they know. Same thing goes for spoiled people - they are always searching for that excessive love and attention that was given to them as a child and they never find it so they feel empty. So sad. And painful. And they can't deal so they run away from their problems in drugs. Or gambling, or lots of sex or over eating. I hope none of this is you.

It's called slow suicide

I don't know.

why do fat people continue to eat?

because they are lost and cannot think of anthing else but ply their bodies with poison, once they have an addiction, it's very hard to come out of it, but they have to want to before they can get help...they don't know any better...i don't understand why people do it to themselves, the last thing i want is to die by using poisonous substances, that's why i lead a very healthy lifestyle

Because whether you believe in evolution or creation, it's hard to deny that mankind was not designed to cope with the increasing social and technological changes that the modern world dishes out. Biblical times and caveman times were both simpler times by all accounts. Life can overwhelm some of us and a few of us cacoon into our own little world. Drinking, drugs, smoking and various other addictions keep us in our own reality where no one else bothers us. Does this answer your question?

because addiction is a disease. addicts don't 'decide' to be addicts.
