Alcohol irritates my stomach?!

Question: I am not a very big drinker. Maybe about once a month I go to a party, but I always get sick after I drink. My stomach hurts and it continues hurting all night and into the next day. I don't know why. Maybe alcohol just irritates my stomach. It has happened enough times now that I would really like to know why and if I can prevent it. I am so sick of laying in bed all night and not being able to sleep because my stomach hurts.

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

I have the same problem, i dont think these people understand because they dont have it. nothing you do or dont eat before seems to make a difference even one drink if your like me causes you to be up all night. ive gerd before, and from what i understand its probably a result of the alcohol causing too much stomach acid. i am going to see the dr. this week because i know people who have had it cured by taking nexium or protonix via prescription.

If you know you are going to drink, eat a hearty dinner beforehand. If you still get sick, you should probably avoid alcohol all together.

Are you drinking on anb empty stomach? If not just don't drink anymore.

You can be allergic to the ethanol in alcohol.

The only other thing to try is a starchy meal beforehand & a glass of water between each drink of alcohol.

Other options: drink seltzer with a slice of lime or Coke with a slice of lemon.

Eat a good meal before (not right before) know your limits. If you are drinking enough to be getting actually sick, like puking, you are drinking too much. I drink 4 or so shots or until I have a good buzz going. Also, it wouldn't hurt drinking water periodically throughout your night or having a snack here and there.
