depends on the person and how much will power thay have ,I HAVE NO WILL POWER an have tried to stop smoking for years but i carnt .....

nope, no physical addiction!

It's all mind over matter I believe... :)

Yes, as long as they keep taking it their body will eventually get use to it and has to have it to function.

Sadly yes.

No way!
Just because they smoke it everyday doesn't mean they are addicted.

Alright, that was kinda fun....Well if a person can't stop smoking pot then they MIGHT be addicted...

And if they go out giving hand-jobs for pot, then you have a pothead!

I think not physically, like heroin or alcohol (you get the shakes and sick if you dont get your fix) but with weed, you just go, "oh shoot, Im out..oh well" and go on about your day. so I dont think people can get physically additcted, just mentally. Like, you like to feel stoned--but if you cant get that feeling, you just have a beer or take a nap. Speaking of all this weed makes me want to go out and have a little bong hit before bed! Ha!

Just because a drug for you wasn't 'hard' to give up, doesn't mean it is not addictive...

Maybe all that pot made you more stupid, which it can and does do over a period of time.

They are not addicted to pot, they are addicted to the high instead. Marijuana causes neither physical nor mental dependency.

Some people use it to deal with problems, and then create a psychological addiction.

I truly believe that no one can be physically addicted. However, I know some people that are convinced they need to smoke every day.

uh.ya.relly.AND nawt only is it addicting-wake up please-it's disgusting and everyone hates it. u should be -ahem. awake yet? good-be ashamed. uh. thanks.

no way!!!! and if it was possible I would sure know by now!! :) LOL.

NO.

It is more of a 'psychological dependence' NOT a chemical addiction at any level. Tetrahydracanabinol (THC)
is NOT an addictive substance, whatsoever in and of itself, and can be stopped at will with no ill side affects whatsoever.

It has enormous therapeutic properties and effects for Cancer patients undergoing Chemo and is the best anti-nausea agent known as well as a natural sleep and been used for thousands of years!

Of course this info is suppressed for obvious reasons!

Absolutely they can. Just like there are people who are alcoholics, food addicts etc. For some people the chemistry is such that there is a chemical addiction, don't underestimate the power of chemistry.

I'll think about it & let you know after my next pipe...

i use to back in high school also and i still don't understand how anybody could be addicted. i don't think there is a physical addiction as there is to heroine,etc.. but i do think that some "weak people" might come mentally dependent on it. i i don't know. i don't smoke anymore so ya..later man hope i could help.

It is not actually addiction it is just they like the feeling of being high and they just don't want to give up the high feeling because they enjoy it WAAY too much and that is what addiction to pot is. And it is not possible to be addicted to it like you can to smoking.

Source:Over 25 Of My Cousins Smoke Pot And
I Get ALOT Of Information About It From Them.

There is no physical addiction to marijuana, but a mental dependency can be built. Often people say they can't quit marijuana, but that's not true, the withdrawal symptoms are based strictly on chemical levels in the brain, opposed to other drugs which will actually affect your metabolism and the way your body functions.
But, let me tell you, when I quit I get extremely impatient.

Yes.....you can be addicted to anything.

But just like not everyone gets addicted to alcohol not everyone gets addicted to pot, depends on your personality.

In general there are two types of addiction so whilst not chemically addictive anything that causes pleasure can be addictive, in that increased dose is needed for the same effect, and in that is difficult and unpleasant to stop. This can even manifest in physical side effects.

Another factor can be most smokers of marijuana mix it with tobacco, and the addictive nature of nicotine is well understood, and if someone smoked large quanities of marijuana and didn't smoke cigarettes it is quite plausible they would be addicted to nicotine without realising it.

Well in reality a person can be addicted to anything much less pot. It has to do with ones mind states and will power.

However I agree with you that pot is not addictive the nicotine in Cigarettes is much more highly addictive then even some of the harder drugs much less pot but yet its still legal. I know lots of people who been on weed and stopped cold turkey but I know very few people who can stop smoking cigarettes cold turkey.

The goverment Puts false media on Marijuanna all the time why do they do this because they cant control the production of marijuana like how they control Tabaco If they could have done it properly they properly would have done it by now and Tax it. However its more then likely one day going to be legal for purchase in Canada its just a matter of time

You are one of the few that realized that smoking pot was just a thing you did and then you moved on with your life. You realized that to attain what you wanted in life you had to stop smoking pot. You had the strength to realize that you could not go on smoking. Good for you. I to was a social smoker and I also drank and did a few drugs. As time went on I was able to quit all of it and I didn't think nothing of it. But there are people who can't quit without help. A long time ago everyone said you can't get hooked on pot and that's what made it so great to do. I bought the same song and dance. Truth is you can become addicted to it. First of all for some folks they like the high that they get and that's what keeps them doing it. I personally know someone that I am close to and if he doesn't have pot he gets nasty. He has tried several times to quit and just when he seems to be mellowing out he goes and get high and starts the whole thing up again. Staying high all the time. If he runs out, he will sleep all the time to avoid the feeling he get from not having it. Its a sad life. So do you think its addictive after this story because I sure do. The part that really bugs me is a person who has an addiction takes everyone down with them.

The people who say you can't get physically addicted are simply wrong. Like any other chemical, when you introduce a source and continue supplying it your body begins to require it. Without the chemical you will go through withdrawals.

Now, with marijuana the withdrawals are minimal compared to some of the "harder drugs" but they are a reality.

yes l hear some people are

of course they can.its like any other drug.
they're also addicted to the high it gives them

you stopped in the middle of freshman high school? so you must've started younger, shame on you!! you'll probably develop cancer in the future anyways so you've got a lucky break now

Yes, a person can be addicted to almost anything. The addiction is not necessarily defined by the amount someone does (although that is likely a contributing factor) but by how badly someone NEEDS to get high. I can say that I have known addicts and they will do nearly anything to be able to have some pot. It doesn't sound like you were in that same frame of reference.
