Having problems with acid on my tummy. help!?!

Question: I am approaching my 33rd birthday. All my life, I never had problems with heartburn, stomach acid problems, etc, not even when I Was pregnant. The past two weeks, I have had bad stomach aches and a lot of acid on my stomach. I can feel it in the back of my throat and in my nose a little bit. I am sick of it. I can't eat anything w/o my stomach aching. I want to feel normal again. I have been taking Rolaids and it's not working. I have a hard time laying down or I will feel icky. This is so unusual for me. In the past if my tummy was upset, I could eat any acidic foods and it would make my tummy feel better, like if I was sick I could eat spaghetti or drink orange juice and feel so much better. Now, I can't do that. This is something that has happened recently since just before the new years.

I am under a lot of stress here at home. could that be one or the culprits?

Want a little me in you?
Acidophilus will aid with indigestion!

Stress could possibly contribute to the problem, but I really think you should stop battling Aliens. After you shoot or stab one of them, and their acid blood gets on your tummy, it can really eat through you.

Stress can be a contributing factor especially if you are developing an ulcer...Try Prilosec for 2 weeks if its not better you need to see the DR...

i've had the same problem for about 2 years now. my doctor said i had acid reflux, which sounds like your symptoms. he wrote me that purple pill(forgot what it's called) but it gave me horrible stomach cramps and diarrhea. i've just tried to learn to live with it by changing my diet to more water and healthy foods. also, the equate brand of acid reducer at wal mart has been the only thing to work for me. i'd check with your doc and see if your situation is the same.

Take lot of alkaline things. You may no fast or take too much of spicy food. Taking small quantity of milk at regular interval may also help. If you are having summers you can try 'gulkand' an ayurvedic medicine (made of roses, and some other ayurvedic medicines). Or just chew some roses. Please try pranayama or breathing exercises. Reduce intake of carbohydrates. Tea, coffee and other sweet/hot liquids can make you worse.

I can sympathize! You are describing Acid Reflux, very very unpleasant. After trying all the known remedies, including some very expensive ones, which only offer temporary relief I found a cure! I have not had one single attack since I learned this little secret. Stop drinking a lot of liquid before, during and after meals. Don't drink anything 30 minutes before, during the meal (just a sip or two if needed) and for at least 30 minutes after a meal. I used to down a big glass of iced tea or water during dinner and now I limit my intake to just a few sips and it works! And try not to lay down for at least 2 hours after eating. Good luck!

Once when i was a kid i carried a car battery from the lake out back up to the house. I got battery acid on my shirt, but it never inhibited my appetite. And since I ate a lot of oreos when i was younger, maybe that helped! wow! had I only realized before that oreos can help with heartburn, I wouldve eaten more when I was pregnant.

Personally, I find tums work better than rolaids. stress can definately be a factor. sometimes viruses might be the culprit (they can cause anything). If you have already tried over the counter stuff like prilosec, etc, then go see the doctor for a remedy. And then cut down on the stress and see if that helps.

Acid always f*cks me up big time! I have to say I have heard of doing it in the eyes, injection, orally, ect but never on my tummy. I will have to try that! I'm waiting for my new copy of The Wall first. I hate trippin without it!

try prilosec or nexium. you prob'ly have acid reflux. stress can be a contributing factor, for sure. either one of those pills should help..(my husband takes them)

HOWDY!!! Lakisha,

For two weeks of pain like that it could be more serious than you think. I suggest that you go to a Dr. and find out for sure.
If it is just acid reflex the Dr. can prescribe meds. for it. Get an X-RAY or C-SCAN to rule out an ulcer. I had that problem for a long time and was taking meds for acid reflex and found out the hard way that I had an ulcer. The ulcer that I had started bleeding and lost most of my blood here at home. By the time they got me in the ambulance my wife told me later that I had stop talking to anybody. The ambulance was doing over 90 thru town so they could get me to the Dr. because I was almost dead. I had no pulse and they had to incubate (sp?) me and I don't remember much of what happened that night. I was in the VA Hospital for four months and none of it was pleasant. But By the Grace of God and my Wife Rose and the Dr. that worked on me.

The way you tell us that it has been there for 2 weeks may I suggest that you stay away from the booze. Please see a Dr. it may not be much but it is still something that you want to mess with. I found out the hard way. GOOD LUCK!!!

STAY SAFE!!!
