Food Craving Question?!


Question: Is it true that some food cravings can mean you're missing the nutrient found in those foods?

I've been craving eggs for the past week. I eat them everyday and still want them the next day. Normally I hate eggs! My friend said maybe I needed more protein and this was my body's way of telling me.

our body has been pretty well designed to look out for itself despite anything we do. we have a selfsustaining part of our brain called the reptilian brain which has a job of basic body functions and nutrition is one of it's charges. when we lack something in our diet it sends us urges to eat whatever is lacking. my granny used to tell us to stay tuned to your body and listen to what it tells you.

Possibly. The human body works in numerous ways.

thats true for example the pregnant women have no control on their food cos its the body who is telling her u need milk for instance cos there is alot of calcium used in growing the baby so a woman would find herself going on milk like crazy even so she never liked it in her life...

i think that is definitely possible!

i have also read that we actually have a mild allergy to the foods we crave. and because of that, our body can't process it, we crave it.

since you have only been craving it for the past week, and not for an extended period of time, i'm assuming your friend is probably right. if it continues for at least a month, i'd suggest going to the doctor or to a nutritionist to see if its something more serious, such as a complex and harmful protein deficiency.

I have no idea... but keep on having the eggs - they're good for you!

There is a natural alarm system in our body, and there is a message to our mind what our body is lacking in and sometimes in despreate need of some thing like sugar, salt, protien and likewise.
