Wanting to get off seizure medication, help?!

Question: I want to get off my seizure medicine really soon and stay off the medication. I'm sick and tired of taking it, I've been on medicine for 8 years now. Do you think I should call my neurologist and ask him what would be the worst thing that would happen? I asked my health teacher and she said she thinks at worst I would have many seizures. I could live with that if that is the case. What should I do? I'm not telling my parents until I call the doctor.

you should stay on them. ihave been on seizure meds since 1992.
the worst that could happen is you could have a blackout seiz. and seriously injure or kill yourself or someone else (such as while driving). it is definitely worth the small trouble of taking a few pills daily, even if it means you need to take them for the rest of your life (like me). you could ask your prescriber to let you try an alternate type of seizure med like tegretol or keppra if your current script does not agree with you.

You dont mention ur age or Y you are taking the seizure medication. Are you bipolar or do u have seizures. The medication is given for a plethora of reasons. Please provide more info and i will try to help.

I would advised staying on it. I once felt that I wanted to come off my medication, but in the end I just ended up having a seizure. You have to remember it's the medication that is controlling your seizures. If you don't have good seizure control, you can't drive, or hold a steady job. I have learn to accept the fact that I'll be on medication for the rest of my life.
