Inflamed liver?!

Question: So the Doc sent me some results from my physical/pap and it said I have an inflamed liver. What could cause this and what could this cause? I really don't want to go back...

Could be any number of things and I won't speculate. Go back to your doctor and find the cause. The liver is one organ that repairs itself. You have a higher chance of healing once the cause is isolated.

Ignoring it could kill you.

Oh, and until you learn more, NO ALCOHOL or fried foods.

Try a bland (or at least no-fat) diet for a couple of weeks and see if that helps. Diets high in fats and processed carbs can really exacerbate liver problems....
Interesting fact that most vegans/vegetarians do not suffer from liver or gallbladder problems. Happy New Year and get well soon!

Ask the doc or NP to give you a call to explain. In the meantime, search webmd or google to find out more. Sorry you got this news but I'm sure you will be able to locate the causes.

EDIT: who gives thumbs down for THIS? Wow.

Don't be a fool... You have one and only one liver and it does the very unique and specialized job of detoxifying your blood. The loss of a functional liver is equal to a death sentence.

An inflamed liver is a nice way of saying Hepatitis... you may have heard the word before. Whether the organ is inflamed as a result of a disease process or from trauma is an important qualification. If it is the result of a disease, there are differing degrees of severity and remarkably differing treatment requirements.

Failure to follow-up may have some nasty consequences. Return to your doctor and get on with whatever additional treatment may be appropriate for your illness.

Nuff said. Good health.
