Is it normal to breath heavier and faster while you sleep?!

Question: I was listening to my boyfriend sleep last night over the period of like 2 hours and he snores quietly and normally. It's rather cute actually.

But anyways, haha.

He was breathing faster than he does when he is awake and heavier too. Like he was trying to catch his breath or he was out of air. It made me nervous.

When you sleep, your breathing is supposed to slow down, whats going on? I'm pretty sure he wasn't dreaming.

No, your breathing is supposed to slow down. I've been told i stop breathing for a bit when I sleep, but that's not normal either...a bit dangerous i'd have thought. Perhaps he has a chest infection,. that can cause shortness of breath. Ask him if he felt any discomfort, or remembers anything that wasn't quite right. Otherwise, it could have been just a one off occurance, but it's nice to look into these things.

You should go to the DR

Nope

sounds like sleep apnea
try a breath right strip, or see DR.
