you know what, it takes me anything up to 2 hours to get to sleep every night. my hubby gurgles, snorts, and most of the time i think he's choking, he is so loud and consistent he wakes up our kids. he denied he does it so i recorded it on his mobile and added it as his ring-tone. the next day after hearing it he was so concerned himself he went to the doc and next month he has an appointment at the hospital,

i was hoping they would help, but if you have had no luck, i won't hold my breath.

my hubby only snores if he is unwell - then he drives me nuts - i usually end up on the sofa

Yes she does but denies it.

yes he does thats why he sleeps in the spare room most of the time

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...
yes!

I snore and this is what works for my wife. I use a breath right strip on the nose. two pillows so my head is up, open the window a little (and we live in Chicago) so I have air, blow the nose before bed and this works. If I do all this she doesn't end up on the sofa.

yes, she snores like truck without a muffler!!!!!

Is your husband overweight or obese? If so losing weight can help. There is also a type of surgery that can be done to remove or reshape his soft palate and uvula. Another option would be to see a dentist to see if he is a good candidate for an appliance called Silent Nite made by Glidewell Labs of Southern California.

my husband and only if he has had a few beers a good nudge in the ribs with the elbowalways works for me haha

You're going to the wrong doc-tor. My G/F used to snore like a tornado on crank but she had some minor out-patient surgery and that fixed the problem. Snoring can be an indication of other problems.

Does he drink? Or have you noticed if he snores worse after a drink? Everybody snores more or less, but sometimes it can be really loud and disturbing. Sleeping on his back doesn't help either, as during sleep the throat relaxes and allows the muscle walls to move (vibrate) and this vibration is encouraged by facing the ceiling. The best way to sleep is on his tummy. Try to give him something to keep his throat moist during the night (syrup or just plenty of liquid). There are some nasal strips at the chemist that really work wonders, they flare your nostrils, so you get more oxygen through them (very efficient for colds/ blocked noses, as well). Also, you can try using earplugs or just nudge him every now and then. They say there's a watch you wear and whenever you start snoring it sends impulses to your body, just enough to stop you from snoring, but not to wake you up. But I couldn't tell you for sure, as I've never tried it or heard about it from a trustworthy source.

my snoring was one of the concerns that cursed my first marriage. 1st wife would kick me, wake me up and ***** at me-tell me to roll over (like a dog?) etc.---then she would get peeved if i chose to sleep in the spare bedroom/office,...

my current wife and i both snore. both of us have had sleep studies done (paid for by our insurance) both of us have sleep apnea
(MOST SNORERS DO HAVE SLEEP APNEA) and we both use CPAP/BIPAP machines to aid our sleeping/breathing issues. personally-i have better sleep now, greater energy than i did the previous 5 years before getting the machine, more focused and alert,....and neither of us snore as long as we use the machine at night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

get a sleep study done, if he has apnea-it can be life threatening!

Snoring is caused by a loose flap of skin at the back of the throat. There are several reasons why this could be interfering with the intake of air when sleeping. If your partner is overweight this could be a reason why the air ways are becoming blocked, also if they are sleeping in a position likely to cause the skin to close off the air way (usually on their back).
Age is another reason why people start to snore, as we get older the muscles on the neck holding things in place become saggy.
There are several things you could get your partner to try:-
1, sleeping on their side with their head back,
2, www.snoremenders.co.uk will keep the mouth open to allow better airflow.
3, Your partner can have an operation to remove the loose skin, called uvulopalatoplasty www.llc.co.uk/laser_uvulopalatoplasty_lu...

Sleep deprivation is one of the worst things there is so please do be proactive and do something. Explain to your partner that they will have to sort this out.

No but the whole family next door dose, including the dog and parrot. We have twice the mice, they had to move in with us they just could not stand the stress from the vibrations reverberating to the loft, lol

My husband snores unbelievably and has done for years. We have eventually gone into separate rooms. I find if he is sickening for a cold or similar it makes him snore for a week or so, but his weight is the major factor. If he diets and loses a bit of weight the snoring settles down. It's like being with a bear! I have to admit I was close to divorce a few years ago, but we went into separate bedrooms - however, I can still hear him when he starts.

Not all snoring has the same cause so take some of the answers with a pinch of salt. Surgery is not common in the UK - your GP will explain why if it comes up.

If your partner's snoring is from the throat and if he is willing to try it, most dentists can make up a gizmo called a 'madibular advancement device' - a kind of gum-shield thing that you wear at night. It pushes the lower jaw forward a bit, helping to keep the throat open and prevent snoring. You'll have to pay but it's not a lot and, if it works, it'll be worth it.

If your partner stops breathing for extended periods when snoring, then you need to go back to your GP as treatment IS available on the NHS for certain conditions like sleep apnoea. If you want to cut through the massive waiting lists and get some action, get a private consultation. It's not cheap but it sounds as though your life is being ruined at the moment.

You are not alone. Here's a professional web site that discusses the issues: http://www.britishsnoring.co.uk/

My boyfriend snores but cause I am a heavy sleepy I never here him unless I need to get up to go to the toilet.
