Prescription for stomach ulcer?!

Question: Hi all,

I'm currently taking Aciphex for a stomach ulcer. However, our insurance changed at the beginning of this year, and the medicine I take isn't covered under the new plan (Aetna HMO). Their suggestion was Prilosec OTC. Does anyone else out there have a suggestion as to what really works for their ulcer? My gastro's office is calling Aetna right now, but I doubt they'll cover much at all, considering it's an HMO. Any advice?

Protonix is a good stomach med and it has a generic so the HMO should cover it. Aciphex is relatively new and that is probably why they won't cover it. Also, u may be able to ask your doctor how long he is wanting u to take this medicine for and if he has any sample packs if u wish to remain on it longer. (Doctor's usually have samples due to all the drug reps that come in trying to push their products!)

Check with the Pharmacist, Prilosec OTC is verey good if you cant get a Prescription coverage.

By the way Healthcare will continue to get worse and have fewer benefits as we pay more

Nothing really works. I was just on aciphex and i had the doctor take me off of it because it makes my body hurt. You should try to get medicaid. Try nexium or protonix
