Having a REAL time sleeping!?!

Question: Just a week or 2 weeks ago we had a winter break. The break lasted about 2 weeks and I stayed up all night for the whole 2 weeks. Now I just can't fall asleep anymore! Right now I want to go to bed but I found myself just laying there. It's been like this for the past 1 and a half week. I have to wake up a 7:00 and sometimes I stay up at 12:00 ((because of the sleeping problem)). Then at school I find myself yawning, being tired and just completely out of it.

Question- How can I make myself sleep?

Thank you :]

Get up at the same time everyday -- even Saturday and Sunday. Don't take any naps and avoid caffeine after 6pm.

It will take a few days, but you will get back on track soon.

Get a night cover for your eyes or get sleeping pills

Easy, stay up until you pass out.

You'll regain your sleep schedule.

pills... or getting wasted

sleeping pills, or a mug of warm/hot milk that work 4 me =]

Try exercising in the morning. Or...masturbade at night?

I'm having the same problem.

Let's make each other a deal. I go to sleep now, and you will too.

Okay let's go in 1..2..3

Night ;)

12am? thats late to you???? ha. try 6am...wake up at 9 am.

i have that same exact problem. what i do is finish my homework and the things i need to do before 10:00. then i get ready for bed, so by the time im in bed its around 10:30. i jsut rest my mind and take off everything out of my mind, relax, and if i cant sleep, i start reading or exersice for a bit, then i loosen up and fall asleep. there's always counting sheep too.

trying not getting enough sleep on the weekends and then set an alarm to wake you up on school times and do that for about a week and your body should get used to it

Melatonin will knock you right out.

Wow...that's amazing that you stayed up that long. I would try taking some over the counter sleeping pills. They will probably make you drowsy, and you'll fall asleep very quickly.

I know how you feel, the exact same problem happened to me too. Although it can get really annoying, go to bed early and close your eyes until you fall asleep. Then you'll wake up earlier. You can also get an alarm clock to wake you up at 7 so when you get back home, you'll be tired and you'll want to go to sleep early. Good luck! :-)

glass of warm milk before bedtime..read any book ..no tv or music that time...

That's been happening to me too.
I take Melatonin; it's basically a sleeping pill, but non-prescription.
It relaxes you by temporarily slowing down your metabolism.
It is dangerous (as with all medicine) it you don't follow the proper dosage on the instructions!
Hope this helps!

Oh this is easy. I used to work in the hospital so at times you have to take the night shifts. What I would do to get balanced is stay up all night until the next day. Don't worry you won't feel sleepy, unless you fall asleep then you are doomed. Don't sleep until after you come from school, go to sleep at 7 p.m. then you'll get your balance back.

what you can do is when you lay down, relax all your muscles by like stretching them.
Ex: Arms= reach as far as you can up and then relax
Legs= point your toes out and then relax
and then shrug your shoulders as hard as you can. then relax.

take deep breaths until you fall asleep.
we do this in class once a week and everyone is passed out at the end.

close your eyes . . . seriously

drink soothing drinks hot tea and milk
dance around until your heart cant take it any more that should make you tired.
do something really really boring read something you cant stand

Might want to see your doctor...

In the meantime I found some sites that may help you to get a good nights sleep. I hope they help....

talk to ur doctor, he will give u something for that

Consider over-the-counter drugs.

Try taking an over-the-counter drug called melatonin that can help. Melatonin may help you fall asleep if you take it at the same time each day before you go to sleep. As we age, melatonin levels decrease so melatonin may be more helpful for age-related insomnia. Some people may find taking melatonin in a "staged" manner helpful: take half a melatonin tablet before going to bed, and the remaining half if you awaken in the middle of the night. (NOTE: Melatonin is a hormone and has a larger role than sleep initiation. A reduction in melatonin levels causes the body to initiate puberty, if melatonin levels stay high, puberty will be delayed. It is not for use by children, teenagers, or pregnant or lactating women. If you have any disorder at all or are on medication consult a physician before taking melatonin.)
Consider Valerian, an over the counter herbal supplement. Valerian has mild sedative effects and is generally safe for most people and appears not to cause grogginess upon awakening. However, some herbal literature indicates that if used for a period longer than about a week, the herb can have the opposite effects. Other herbal sleep/ relaxant aids to consider are: Lemon Balm, Chamomile, Hops, and Kava Kava. Talk with someone who has experience with these herbs or do some research.
Unisom is highly effective (and non-addictive), just make sure you have a full eight hours to sleep. Unisom and Sominex have the same active ingredient as Benadryl, but Benadryl (an antihistamine)is cheaper (especially generic). While Benadryl isn't addictive, it can slow you down the next morning by making you feel groggy-headed. Look for natural sleep aids sold in health-food stores before trying Unisom.
Many people find tryptophan (available in health food stores) to be a safe and reasonably effective sleep aid, probably due to its ability to increase brain levels of serotonin and/or melatonin
Start relaxing and stop thinking about falling asleep..Relax your mind and think about what you want to do tomorrow. Do not think about falling asleep, this will stop you from doing so. Try chilling your pillow for two minutes in the fridge. Even on a cold day, it will relax your head and the rest of the body will follow.

Good luck!

No coffee, tea, chocolate, alcohol after 3 P.M. Don't exercise before bed. Go to bed the same time every night, and do the same getting up in the morning. No naps during the day. Try reading an hour before bedtime. Eventually, your inside body clock should return to normal.

I'm having the same problem right now. I'm a night owl and often have trouble anyway - but ever since break this has been a real pain. Whatever you do - don't focus on it. Go to bed - if you don't fall asleep within 10 - 15 mins - read a book or something to make you sleepy. If that doesn't work try reading something really boring. If that doesn't work go do something until you feel sleepy. Make sure that you remove stimuli from your bed or bedroom that isn't related to sleep. Don't watch TV in bed, don't pay bills, don't study. These things will cause you to think about bills, studies etc., because you will have a mental association. Try not to think about not sleeping/sleeping. Try meditating - with every breath in and out try to think a new thought until you can't think of anything anymore - this way you won't focus on anyone thing - you won't worry or stress as much. Before you know it - you'll be asleep. Sweet Dreams. ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

u try to think truely u r slept and u will b in sleep it works seriously its true i do that
