The smoking ban!? UK?!
Question: its got to be one of the best things the government has done, no more breathing in other ppls poisonous gases! why do ppl insist on moaning about it? as i was walking into my local shopping centre today i passed a lady who had to put her cigerette out, she was walking along saying just how ridiculous it was and i just felt like bursting out laughing! if she wants to smoke she could go home and do it anyone agree?

i'm a smoker & my workplace was smoking...but, i agree with you 100% - my workplace is now a much nicer place to be in & it has cut me down by quite a considerable amount. we should have done this years ago!!
I think we should be allowed to smoke wherever we want....I can't stand all of the health police telling us what to do....life is risky...get used to it....
i hate the ban too... i cant sit in a warm place and light up anymore
I couldn't agree more. You should have just stood there and laughed at her. While you're at it, maybe beat her about the head, and do her a favour.
That's a much more humane way to die, than from lung cancer.

I agree the ban is good for us non smokers...i dont agree you should laugh at someone just cos they are addicted to cigarettes and dont realise how better off they would be if they gave up.
all non smokers are going to die younger through stress, then us smokers can get on with it.........lol
What is worse now is when I visit my local the only thing I can smell are the toilets and BO at least before the ban I couldn't!!!

HOORay for the ban I hate smokers they can kill themselves but I do not want to smell like an ashtray because a smoker wants "rights" what about mine. Pubs are great since the smoking ban. Hooray Hooray Hooray!!!!
I quite agree ! In fact, I think that it should be extended to cover any public space be it indoors or out. People don't seem to mind walking down the street puffing like a train, but they forget that there could be someone walking behind them having it all blown in their face.
As a non smoker I feel that I have as much right to walk down the street and not breath in this rubbish as smokers feel that they have to smoke.
If they want to smoke, go home and do it !
The petrol fumes are much more harmful/dangerous but of course cars will never be banned
I've got no problem with it being banned from shopping centres, restaurants and offices and stuff. Most of those places were smoke-free before the ban anyway.
I don't think that they should have banned it from pubs though, they could have easily made it so that pubs could have separate areas, or made separate smoking and non-smoking pubs.
Also, what was wrong with companies having separate smoke-rooms for their employees? Now, smokers have to go outside in the cold and rain, when they weren't hurting anybody by having a separate room to smoke in on their dinner breaks.
I agree. Many smokers are extremely selfish.
Why do they see it as their right to pollute the air of non smokers ? cigarette smoke stinks - it is foul and dangerous so why should be have to breathe it?
Smokers don't realise how bad they smell too - I used to be a smoker years ago and I thought that a polo mint would cover the smell - lol.

Many miss the point. Smokers can kill themselves, it is their choice. It is the non-smoker who is forced to breathing the fumes that the ban is for.
And as you were walking to your local shopping centre, did you not notice the gas guzzling 4x4's passing you? If the government really wants to set an example towards a cleaner environment, they should get their priorities right, and ban cars spitting out high carbon emissions. Got any idea how much POISONOUS GAS you breathed in between home, and the shopping centre? It didn't come from a cigarette, you can be sure of that!!!! I feel like laughing....... at you!!!!!

I don't mind people smoking, it is their right.
BUT... I do hate breathing the stench of it, and when people smoke in my company in a public place. It's like, I don't walk around in front of them passing gas, so should they be considerate?

The government get MOST of there taxes from cigs. Yeah we get taxed on everything, but cigs were the biggest revenue the government had until they shot themselves in the foot. FACT.
FACT.......cigs dont cause cancer. EVERYONE has the cancer gene and your more likley to get cancer if it runs in your family!! Yeah I admit that cigs dont help the cancer matter but neither does polution from cars etc (and i believe you want to drive?)
The argument is, is that people have had a basic human right taken away from them. People have smoked for centurys and alot of smokers have lived on until they are in their 90s!
Why should smoking be the blame for everything? It shoudnt be. Its legal. Its not even close to smack or drugs like that.
Its everyones right to smoke if they want. Why do you think no smoking areas were introduced in cafes etc? To give people to choice.
Alot of people who dont smoke, say its wrong for smokers to have all the **** for cancer etc. It is a human right to choose if you want to stink, get wrinkles, have yellow fingers etc I could go on. Its freedom of choice.
Luckily, pubs now have SMOKEINS. Last month was given a SMOKING DAY. Pubs and clubs had to sign a consent form to let the customers smoke for that day only.
Smoking is not the only killer on this planet.
