Massage question?!

Question: I am going to get a massage today from physical therapist' massage therapist in their office. I have heard that this is different, more intense at certain muscle groups than massages from spas. My question is this- do I get totally undressed? I don't want it to be weird at all. The physical therapist is my brother's best friend. I don't want the office talk between him and the massage therapist to be the weird patient that did the wrong thing. Also what else should I expect?

The therapist will always drape you appropriatly so that body parts that do not need to be exposed can be covered. Whether you wish to leave on your undergarments or not is up to you...they will sometimes offer you a gown. It depends on what you are comfortable with. They should never make you do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. Most likely, the MT will explain your choices to you prior to the treatment.

The quality of the massage might be better than what you get at a spa...it all depends on the skills of the MT. There are plenty of skilled MTs in spas as well as physical therapy clinics. We have a very good one at ours.

At first I could think of a useful bit of advise but then I remember for me I like to keep it simple, so call the office and ask what the protocol is I am sure they answer this question all the time and would rather answer it for you than to have you feel uncomfortable. I imagine this place is like any other business they want to make you happy and we know "the customer is always right"

You do not take your clothes off for a massage therapist to give you a massage. If I were you I wouldn't take your clothes off unless you are totally comfortable and 100% trust the person giving you the massage
