How does the immune system protect your body?!

Question: What can a person do to boost his/her immune system?

Answers: What can a person do to boost his/her immune system?

Wow, I'm surprised nobody has answered your main question yet. The immune system helps to fight against foreign entities that enter your body (microorganisms, viruses, etc). It literally helps to prevent you from getting sick and fights the bad stuff when you are sick.

As far as what can boost it, getting enough sleep can help for the basics of keeping your immune system healthy... but it doesn't boost your immune system specifically. If you want a boost for the immune system, the most popular herbs for that are Elderberry, Echinacea, Goldenseal, and Mushrooms (Maitake, Reishi, and Shiitake are the big ones) are the most popular herbs for immune system boosting.

Well, you can eat healty foods.

the number one thing you can do as an american to boost your immune system is get a healthy night's sleep.

more recently, researchers are uncovering a relationship between stress levels and immune activity. so if you are in an unhealthy relationship or with an abusive family member, maybe that is a consideration.

since you are posting on yahoo! answers, a low caloric intake (typical in the developing where famine is a problem) is probably not depressing your immune system... unless, of course, you have an eating disorder. then i'd say eat more...
