I'll be in quarantine for 4 DAYS!!!! Stuff to keep me busy!!! Ideas?!

Question: I go in for radioiodine (I-131) ablation treatment in a couple of weeks for thyroid cancer. I'll be in quarantine (no contact with the outside world, period) for 4 days because I'll be radioactive. (Glow in the dark!) Anything I do or touch has to be thrown away in that time. Like if I read a book, I have to dispose of it. Same for magazines, food stuffs, etc. I need ideas for stuff I can do during these days so I won't go insane from boredom!!!! HELP!

Well, for me, reading is always a good thing. Don't know about your personality and interests. But four days of forced 'confinement' could be seen as a real positive opportunity. Tolstoy's War & Peace will take a big chunk of that time. Asimov's Foundation series. Hit the used book store and look for paperbacks in the classic literature section. All those books you were supposed to have read in High School and College to make you a well rounded and literate individual are probably still waiting for you! Little Women. Moby Dick. The Last of the Mohicans. The Great Gatsby. All just wanting to be read!

Oh yeah, and I'd take some crossword puzzle books, maybe Sodoku too. Whatever might help stimulate your mind. Might try writing too. Take a blank journal and record your thoughts and your experiences while you go through this. Maybe write some poetry.

Think of this as an opportunity! And good luck with your treatment!

go to a used bookstore and just LOAD up on cheap books. maybe some mad-libs. sketch pad & pencils

All you really can do is read and write, color something, take only things you don't care about throwing away. It's ok to talk to yourself but when you start answering yourself their gonna put you on some more medication lol....lol

Wrap your television's remote control with thick, transparent plastic. Do the same with the radio, internet keyboards, wear thick, vinyl gloves prior to touching the computer monitor (to switch it on & off) or devise something rigid enough to tap the monitor on & off.

Make a video of your 4 days!...could be great for other people going through the same...
Play sudoko...it makes your mind busy....
Read newspaper...The Newyork Times in sunday is great..

crossword puzzle books, I prefer the crossword puzzles in newspapers as they are higher quality and harder, photo copy a bunch out of newspapers.

lots of MUSIC!
(it will help you fall asleep to pass time.)

Cross word, puzzles, suduko, and some trashy novels. You can print out all of of the web and then just toss when you done. Good luck and fast recovery.
