The first thing to understand is that blushing is a perfectly natural thing. It seems to be nature's way of disclosing our true feelings about a situation. Some have theorized that blushing is naturally attractive as it is safer in evolutionary terms to have a partner that cannot lie without detection. (Of course this is not fail-safe!)

Blushing tends to get worse at first as people start to get embarrassed about their embarrassment, creating a sort of vicious circle. The more tense you get as you start to blush, the more the blood is forced to the face. One trick is, when you feel it coming on, to deliberately drop your shoulders, relax your body, and push your stomach out. This takes a bit of doing at first, so you might want to practice.

Part of the embarrassment about blushing is caused by the thought that others will see you as weak or silly. However, everyone has had the experience of being embarrassed, and it's not nice for anyone. Any decent person will be sympathetic about it. Anyone who thinks less of you for it is most probably not worth knowing anyway!

Self hypnosis can help greatly as you can train your body to relax as you feel the blushing coming on, or have the thought that you might blush. If you do any relaxation techniques such as yoga or meditation, once you are really relaxed imagine the feeling of the blushing and have yourself relax with it. Practice feeling accepting towards yourself as you feel it coming on. You can imagine how you would feel if you saw someone else suffering the same way, and then feel that way towards yourself.

i think it's something to do with the temperature of your face. you know: if you're embarrassed your face gets all hot. maybe it's just from the sudden heat or something. i'm not sure though.

high blood pressure. And if it turns red often, you really should see a doctor. It puts you at risk for other serious medical issues.

When I kiss u on ur cheeks & hold u tight, u turn red.

People with fair skin get red. You can see the capillaries through their skin. So, yeah, you're actually seeing their blood cells I guess.

Actually, you are right: it *is* too much blood. If you find yourself turning red more often than most people, it's possible that your body is making blood faster than you are using this. If left alone, this condition could result in your blowing up. Therefore, I strongly suggest that you bleed yourself. There are several ways to do this. If you are in Costa Rica, or in another tropical developing or third world country, you will probably have no problem finding a nest of leeches. Simply apply the leeches to all the major pulse points in your body (wrists, inside of the elbow, throat) and let them do their thing until your face is no longer red. (This can take 4-6 weeks.) Alternatively, there is always the good old syringe method. Many homeless people will be happy to lend you a syringe if you ask. Simply stick it into a major vein, and suck blood out. Repeat this process until you are no longer red.

The cause that makes a person's face to "turn red" is the density of the skin around the face. This (thinner) skin density allows the blood to more easily to show when we are either ashamed or angry.
Also, when we hyperventilate, the blood flow at the face is usually more highly pressured; which causes the red-faced look because of exhaustion.

You're exactly right. The skin appears red because extra blood is being carried in the tiny blood vessels just under the skin.

Body temperature depends partly on the control of how much blood is carried to your skin. When your body is too warm, it automatically sends more blood to your skin. That helps you lose more heat. When you are too cold, more blood is circulated deep inside and less to your skin.

The control point is located deep in the brain. It works automatically but in some strange way it is affected by what you are thinking about. That
