I don't know that there are any shots out there you can get for colds like there are for the flu. You get colds because the children get colds and spread it around. You didn't say what kind of environment you work in (do you teach? do you work in daycare? If you work a daycare then keep the surfaced sprayed with clorox and lysol and spray immediately after the chidlren leave at the end of the day. I remember my sister saying that to prevent colds, at the beginning of the cold season she would start putting vasaline in her nose and cleaning it with rubbing alcohol from time to time (realizing that most people breathe with their nose and not their mouth). You could too use listerene (like maybe mint). You could use hand sanitizer frequently and not be in close breathing contact from the children. And you could build yourself up with multiple vitamins. They say "feed a cold and starve a fever" so maybe your nutrition is low.

In addition, stay in talking distance from the parents as well. And once you have a cold be sure to make your home anticeptic as well so you don't bring it back to the children to keep the circle of colds going. And, dress warm in winter (use a scarf around your neck and face to keep from breathing in the cold air). And, teach good habits to the children as well.

Take vitamin c everyday, it works for me

Keeps your hands clean and away from your face. Also, Vitimin C and Zinc seem to help. Finally, teach the children good hygene so they don't spread it around as much.

Take 2 vitamin C as soon as you think your getting a cold and two at lunch and two b4 you go to bed. I believe vitamin C is the cure for the cold. But thats my opinion.

Flu Jab?

don't share cups eating utensils wash hand frequently, take vitamin c supplements eat nutritious food

There's really not much you can do. Working around children every day will, unfortunately, result in continuous exposure to viruses. I commend people who work with children, but the downside is what you are experiencing. Vitamin C, and the other recommendations may help to shorten the duration of a cold, but they won't stop it. I work with only a few people in a remote area, and get sick only rarely. Then I took on a Saturday night obligation as a bartender. I started getting colds too. I washed my hands a lot since I was touching things everyone else had touched. But my skin was getting too dry and had to cut down on the hand washing. I was careful not to touch my face too, since viruses easily enter through the nose, eyes, and mouth. But, I still had colds quite often.

Better see doctor..

Don't drink cold water...
Always keep your body worm...
And take vitamin C 1000 mg/1day continue...But have to take a time....
So take care yourself.....

I like to eat the inner stem of a grape fruit (the whitish fuzzy center of the grapefruit) during cold season. I rarely get colds anymore.

Multi vitamin daily
Ester-C daily
Wash your hands frequently especially before eating.
Drink plenty of water
Get plenty of sleep and rest daily
Have chicken soup often during the winter time. Yes it does work.
