Urge to punch?!

Question: Last week, I was punching a punching bag at the gym. Right afterwards, a strange thought came to my head that if I want to I can punch anyone because its my free will. But this is not my intention to do so. I've had aggressive urges in the past and I thought I was going nuts until I read up about OCD and this being a symptom. I also have several other OCD symptoms like time sequences, fear of contracting certain diseases, obsessions with numbers (eg. 6 because it represents the devil), and other things. Everyone knows me as a nice person and I would never want a punching urge or impulse to happen. I believe I can control it, but I don't want to think of it all the time. Next week, I am visiting a psychologist for social anxiety. Should I tell them about the punching thought? I want to tell them, but I don't want to be put on medicine because there are a lot of side effects.

Hi

Yeah sounds like ocd, it's the fear of the thought that makes it come back again, most ocd'ers are intelligent highly moral people, so the thought is against your character. Yes ocd and social anxiety are closely related, it really is a brain thing and there is excellent help available these days.

The best thing you can do is buy yourself some 'Inositol' it's one of the b vitamins and has been proven to have excellent results with ocd, I take it and it really does make a difference, the thought that caused me grief can now be dismissed with ease!

Do some research on the internet, type 'ocd inositol' the studies that have been done were with massive doses, I don't believe you need to take that much, I take about 2 - 3g a day, takes a few weeks to work, but it does work!

Also there is a video below from youtube that explains how ocd works, it's a brillant video, watch all three.

All the best - Your be better soon!
