I Cant't Stick My Tongue Out. Is This Common?!

Question: I can't stick my tongue out?

When I try to poke out my tongue there's a bit of skin under
it which catches on my bottom teeth?

Is this common or something I should have had fixed as
a child?

My brother was born with the same thing. It's nothing to worry about, the piece of skin under your tongue that holds it down is just a little longer than other peoples, so you don't have the dexterity of most people. There's an operation my parents considered when he was born where they actually cut the piece of skin....but why bother? It obviously doesn't affect you in any way other than the not being able to stick your tongue out thing.

its called a "tongue web", some people have a small web, some have none at all. In your case, you've got a very pronounced web.

We can't all be Gene Simmons.

I'm tongue tied too!

They'll only cut it if you have trouble eating or talking, though you could probably go private to have it done for cosmetic purposes.

I don't mind it so much, makes me that bit different. Though I do wish some of my friends would stop with the 'Steph, show them your tiny tongue' everytime I meet someone new.

that is uncommon
