Know any good methods on how to fall asleep faster?!

Question: i've always had trouble getting to sleep at night, and it's really taking it's toll. i'm always exhausted, and when i need to be awake during the day - all i want to do is sleep then!
i can't always take naps.. does anyone have any methods on getting to bed at night?
i'm pregnant, so i can't take any sleep aids either.
i've avoided food/television/computer time. but i still can't fall asleep. i'm up until 5 am to 7 am! help!?

warm bath...hot milk/coco/cider...turkey sandwiches make you sleepy...soothing scents like lavender and rose in candles, lotions and oils ......a good, long book....try Alexander McCall's #1 ladies detective agency...it will put you to bed with dreams of African sunsets and Botswana's skies....Reading Baby books might be good, too...an uber-soft blanket with a fluffy pillow are necessary...a warm soup like chicken noodle or cream of mushroom or corn chowder, maybe with some cornbread should help you feel that "full- just wanna sit around now" feeling might help give you that nudge to rest....also, this may sound a little weird but if you pray really long prayers or do long mantra's it always knocks me out, as terrible as that might sound...meditation definitely can help you zonk out- learning to meditate, then just meditate in bed, and you will fall asleep..some guided meditation c.d.'s should help, and possibly, be really amazing...also, cool soft music like mazzy star and enya...
and take more nature walks to bring you peace of mind to help you sleep...stuff like this really matters...swimming in the morning might help exert some energies which will lead you to fall asleep at night...I bet your local gym has cheap water aerobics for pregnant women classes, or something similar...a long good movie like gone with the wind or Baraka might help you sleep...Good luck and sweet dreams...

Routine is the best thing. You have to teaches your body to know when to sleep. At first, it might be difficult, but if you stick to a sleep routine long enough, your body will condition itself to fall asleep according to your routine.

the only thing that ever worked for me was a CD called
"Liquid Mind". its really nice and relaxing. try liquid mind or any type of soothing music.

good luck =]

Maybe you are deficient in "b" vitamins. I would make sure you are getting all the nutrition you need.

sorry don't have answer. may not get this one answered tonight because it's nearly 3 am where i am. if i knew an answer i would not be here to tell you right now i would be sleeping myself. my prob is i can get to sleep around 11 but wake up around 2 amish.

i have heard warm milk helps or like a cammomile tea.

i hope you are not too uncomfortable-never been pregnant myself, but have seen other woman.

if you are working and close to the end, can you see about cutting your hours and maybe go work 1/2 days and still get paid?

You might try a vanilla scent. A candle, inscents, maybe even a spray. From what I understan, it reminds your brain of when you were in your Mothers womb. Sometimes I also listen to music like Jim Brickman or Yanni. Both pianists, both soothing music:)

Try these:

1. Turn all your lights off and get into a comfortable position.

*If you have a little radio playing or you will like to try it feel free. Make sure it is kinda low though so it does not keep you awake.

2. Get into a comfortable position.

3. Pick a number like 10,000 and start counting backwards

But make sure your eyes are closed. I have did that and it has been working out great! I started at 10,000 and go to 9,988 and was knocked OUT!
