Um, shouldn't you have found out about possible health risks BEFORE you did it? LOL

As mentioned, there is always the risk of infection with any piercing. and, while you may not think it, infection can kill you. (I came pretty close, I think, although I don't remember the 4 days I was so sick because, well, I was too sick. That wasn't from a piercing, but it was from bacteria that live on most people's skin.)

But no, there's not a huge risk of infection if you washed everything carefully and if you continue to keep things--especially your hands--clean while it heals. If your fingers are constantly wanting to touch it, keep some hand sanitizer in your pocket and use it every time you think of it. (It'll help prevent colds and flu as a bonus!)

As to resizing the hole, you'll need to wait WAY longer than you will want to. Call your local piercer or tattoo parlor to see what they recommend.

Any time you make a hole in your skin there is risk of infection. And some very nasty stuff too.

I'm sure that you have heard of Staff and Strep infections. If not scan the web and take a look. What you see will change your mind about poking holes in your body.

cheers.

Just take care of it properly and you should be ok. Clean it, keep anti bacterial cleaners. Keep turning it so it doesn't try and heal on the jewlery. You may want to see about purchasing a Taper, which will help you gauge it once it is healed. Wait at least 6 weeks before you try
