Headaches and Nausea from Fluorescent Lighting??!

Question: Lately, for about the past 6 months, I've began feeling very nauseous and dizzy from what I think is the fluorescent lights. Why is this happening to me? Could it be a problem with my eyes? Is there a medical term for this "condition?" Are there any medications or anything to help aid in lowering the symptoms?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There have been studies, but there is no definitive medical proof that correlates sickness with fluorescent lights. People assume fluorescents are the cause because that is what they hear others say. The IESNA (Illumination Engineering Society of North America) Handbook does, however, associate headaches and dizziness with glare. This has been proven. The glare can come from any kind of light source. You should look at the area in which you are feeling nauseated and find any sources of glare. Are the bulbs bare or exposed without a lens or diffuser? Are the lights close enough to the wall to create harsh glare on the surface of the wall? Is the light level simply too bright? All this aside, incandescents fall into a more natural part of the light spectrum (yellow) whereas fluorescents produce more of a bluish-white light. Most people are more comfortable with natural light that is closer to sunlight.
