If you're sick, will going out and about make you even sicker and be detrime!

Question: I unfortunately get sick quite frequently, especially with chest infections, which sometimes lead to asthmatic reactions, because of the swelling and mucus, and general irritation.

However, I get bored and don't feel feverish, so I decide to go out to a few malls, walk around, and just do something since i get bored. I'm a very outgoing on the go person anyways,

am I just potentially making myself sicker and exposing myself to even more germs, which could possibly land me in the ER?

I go out ALOT, and I live in the NYC area, so maybe I'm getting sick very frequently because my exposure to people is great?

Would drastically reducing my "going out" help me get better?

Also, when sick, (aside from being a threat to others) should I just stay home at all costs, and rest?

If you get your immune system up by taking vitamins and taking vitamin C tablet. you may not get sick as much. as for going on while your sick. its probably not the best idea because you may be getting other people sick and your exposing yourself to other germs that can make it worse. your also not getting the rest you need for your body to fight off whatever you have.

Going out and getting fresh air will be a big benefit to you. From the sounds of your symptoms, could you actually be allergic to dairy products? In some people, dairy creates mucus in the body and leads to some of the reactions you listed. Maybe try cutting back on dairy and see if that helps. I really can't see any point in lying in bed all day while you are sick. If you are tired, rest, but a nice walk outside will probably help, not hinder. Just avoid spreading any droplets (mucus, etc). Maybe carry some hand sanitizer or wipes for when you sneeze or touch touch doorknobs etc. Good luck. Hope you feel better.
