Colds are caused by a virus. Not the weather outside, nor the temperature. As a matter of fact, in extremely cold weather, a virus goes into a suspended animation state and can't do a lot of anything. However, in cold weather we tend to keep the doors and windows shut tight, and people tend to cluster together more. You end up with a germ soup going on in your breathing space, and are in closer proximity to the sneezer/wheezer/cougher. All the closer to share those germs. Colds go person to person, tossed through the air or picked up off a surface inside on your hands. Wash your hands before you eat, get some fresh air in the house, and stay a little farther away from the sickies, and you are less likely to catch one yourself.
