Plain and simple; animals have to "dump any excess weight" e.g. a big old poo when they flee from their predators. You are nervous. When you conduct the orchestra you will overcome your anxiety and stay to " fight" or you will crap on the stage, then run off in a cloud of dust ! best wishes. You will be great, I`m sure !!

I don't know but I have the same problem

Fight or Flight response! It happens in animals, too.
Good Luck with your debut.

Its all in your mind, just go out there and knock em dead.

Just calm down. Try to focus on how good you are and that everything will work out. Good luck!

All I can suggest is try some slow, deep breathing to relax youself a bit. Can't help you too much as I have the same problem!!

But for some reason more often than not once you actually get out on stage and start doing it, you'll find you get into it and wonder what you were so worried about. Weird but true..

Stay at the keyboard and start to type a little story of how you feel for 2 minutes

Putting all the feelings you have in you stop and read it to your self

Flash I did not know that about me you will say

Try it you will like it

if you have a printer handy print it up and put it in your pocket when you go to show your skills

The medical condition is called irritant bowels, ..no need to feel ashamed....

relax do not tense up then your stomach will feel less jittery if its your first time try not to show it in your face go to your dressing room shut your eyes and calm down be postive,

It's as maggiesm said fight or flight, In order to flee all the faster when in danger we automatically abort any unnecessary weight. And an added advantage is what ever is chasing you will be on very slippery ground, lol

Everybody gets it when they're nervous, scientists arent entirely sure why our bowels are effected by stress hormones, although there are a lot of theories. I did hear something once that we do this because when we were cavemen and were attacked by animals it was useful to dump our waste so to speak, beforehand, otherwise we'd be running around desperate for the toilet, but i dunno it seems a bit stupid, the getting rid of weight thing makes more sense, or maybe we did it so that the smell put off other animals from eating us?!

You know the song Ironic by Alanis Morrisette? I think your in that situaation. Things that never ever bother us normally are garunteed to pop up when least wanted. All you can really do is take some gaviscon or some remegel about half hour before you have a event to sort out, it may of passed (the event) by the tme you read this so i hope it went well as could be expected for you.

I don't really know why it happens, but I have a solution, on the day you are nervous about something and need to s-hit, try talking one Imodium tablet, that settles your stomach and avoid the possible embarrassment.

Good luck with everything.

You feel the urge because adrenalin is a very good laxative. When you are nervous you produce this hormone. Adrenaline is a "fight or flight" hormone, and plays a central role in the short-term stress reaction. It is released from the adrenal glands when danger threatens or in an emergency. Such triggers may be threatening, exciting, or environmental stressor conditions such as high noise levels or bright light .

When secreted into the bloodstream, it rapidly prepares the body for action in emergency situations. The hormone boosts the supply of oxygen and glucose to the brain and muscles. This is why including myself feel the need to poo when highly strung. You get used to the situation as you get more experience and the need to poo usually subsides.
