Question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...

As you can see from my other question, I dont think my parents will be able to go grocery shopping until next week because their very busy with other things. But I have canned goods such as corn and green beans. To assure im getting enough fiber, how often should I take it? Should I take it in the morning on an empty stomach or what?

Your body fat is squeezing your intestines causing you to be constipated. The fatter you are the more constipation will occur. You need to get your colon check. I'm 46, obese and have chronic constipation. These are the 3 major items you need to reduce your constipation. Lose about 75-100 pounds. Drink 64 ounces of water. Eat plenty of fiber foods like oatmeal, bran, apples, leafy vegetables like spinach or lettuce and dry prunes. If you don't like to drink water than buy a bottle of prune juice or apple juice. The more water you drink the more the stools will be softer and come out with ease. When you take Benefiber read the directions on the bottle. The best fiber laxative to use is in a blue bottle and I think its called fiberone. That one you can put in your food and not taste a thing. With Benefiber you'll taste the gritty taste. Another suggestion would be to take some laxative pills like dulcolax. It works in about 3-6 hours and very effective. I use that one. Another suggestion would be doing an enema. Another suggestion would be on a liquid diet for 2 days. This means no solid food and the only thing to eat would be clear broth, water, gatorade, clear jello and fruit juice. The other reason you're constipated besides the weight in your body is the foods you eat. Mashed potates, milk products and fatty or fried foods like hamburger, french fries and the other stuff is what is making you stay obese and have chronic constipation. Another thing not to scare you but when you have tiny pebbles stools it could be a sign of colon cancer or other health problems in you intestines. This is why I recommend getting your colon check. I have mine done and I am fine on the exception I have now delevop hemmoroids. I am looking out for your health. Don't be afraid to speak up to your parents and tell them you don't like the food they buy and that you need to get your colon check just as precaution. Since you're 16 and I am 30 years older than you I don't want to see you constipated for the next 30 years like me. Just read about constipation and the steps to do. Just google constipation or go to the following websites to better assist your problems. These sites will address your weight, diet, colon and other health concerns you may have that may seem to embarrassing to ask. Stay healthy...
