Youre talking to the former queen of panic/anxiety attacks. I never went to the doctor for a prescription because Im not one to depend on a pill just to feel mentally "normal." (All respect to those who do.) It went on for months until I watched an infommercial about it at like 3am that was regarding these kind of attacks and how to prevent them...medication free. Dont bother wasting your money on doctors in my opinion. What the DVDs I ordered from that program taught me (and I knew something good could come from infommercials lol) was that *I* have control over the attacks. I was the one triggering them because I over-analyze every aspect of my life or current situation. Its something I could only descibe as a mental frenzy. It was scary, embarassing and yet its controllable. Take a walk, breathe very deep and slowly and focus on the "bright side of things", regardless of the situation. Understand that the horrible feeling will subside and thousands of other people can testify to that. I know this sounds almost too simple but it works...just take that mental control back the next time u experience it. (Hopefully there isnt a next time)

are you on medication? usually one gets meds for panic attacks. if you have some and are taking it as prescribed, just give it a few days to kick in.You will be okay..igf you didn't get medication, go back to the doctor and demand some.

If you've seen a doctor for the issue, then probably not, but if you are really frightened about the situation you can possibly check yourself into the mental ward of your local hospital or for a hospital specifically dedicated to psychological problems. I think that you can do a self-check in for a 24 hour watch based on your physical symptoms of your panic attack.

You can always go for a SECOND OPINION, if you feel there could be a physical problem other than anxiety. Hope the doctor who treated you gave you Zanax (Generic name:
Alprazolam)......I have tried all types of anxiety meds, and it literally is the ONLY one that really works for me....you just have to be careful using it, because it is addictive.

Panic attacks are not much fun, and the trauma can last for a while. I'd advise you to take a little time to yourself and think about what's bothering you. What triggered the panic attack? Was it anxiety? Was it a fear of something specific?

I've had anxiety problems for a long time, but I'm able to manage my anxious feelings (most of the time). For me, when I start to feel anxious, I remind myself that the issues that are bothering me don't matter. Oddly enough, round shapes calm me. I've been right on the edge of a panic attack and was able to calm myself by contemplating "roundness" - weird, huh?

Avoid medication if you can. I believe that you can beat this without chemical assistance.
