My 5yr old daughter has had stomach pains and occassional vomitting on and off f!

Question: Firstly, I thought it was just a stomach bug and the doctor prescribed an antibiotic which she has finished, but it doesn't seem to be clearing up completely. She complains about gripping stomach pains that comes in bouts. She can go to bed and sleep all night then wake in the morning and be sick. I have taken her to the doctor again and she suggested that she may be constipated, but she has quite a regular toilet routine. Her appetite is not very good either. I would just like to know if any other parent has experienced this.

The antibiotics could have caused further tummy problems, some of them are quite strong and upset the bacteria in the stomach.

Make sure she is well hydrated, drinking plenty of water, no fizzy stuff, and dont worry too much about the eating, adults dont really eat well if they are sick, its the same with kids.

As long as she is still eating a little and drinking plenty, thats good.

There have been a lot of nasty tummy bugs going round for a while now, I had one that lasted 2 weeks, so I can sympathise with how she's feeling.

In all honesty, if you are still concerned, get her back to the doctors. No one on here can give any firm diagnosis, she needs to be checked again, maybe the doctor will suggest testing her stool sample or wee.

that is really not good i would take her to an ER and demand that they look for more than just constipated. i would say that something is wrong and it should not be ignored good luck and i hope that she feels much better soon

She might have a stomach irritation, had a similar problem my self. go back to doctors if necessary see a different one

You know this is not right. I would take her to the hospital & get her checked out.

Better B careful or Child Protective Services is gonna B investigating you.

well firstly anti biotics dont treat virus which is a stomach bug secondly constipation can be very serious and can die from this so the doc was wrong to just brush over that if she goes reg then thats prehaps not the case but she clearly needs to be seen and treated poor thing get her to your hospital and see if they would do some tests clearly your doc is rubbish

time for blood and urine tests i think

could be the norovirus sickness bug thats been going around, it usually lasts a week, but if shes not getting rid of it it could be building up again which is why she is sick again . however it does seem to have gone on rather long if it was my child i think id take her to the doc again and say that shes not constipated and that it needs investigating. good luck and hope shes better soon

She may have appendicitis or gall bladder problems. I know she is young BUT I started to have gall bladder problems when I was 10. the doctor didn't know what to do for a 10 year old because it would go away after a week or so.I'm leaning toward appendicitis have her see her Pediatrician ASAP and do some test for these 2 things.if it's her appendix they could burst and this can be dangerous.

your question I am sure will raise more than a few eyebrows, regarding your doctors diagnosis.

It may well be that, there is nothing radically wrong , but on what you have described, as a parent, I would take my child to the hospital for check up soonest, if in doubt ring =NHS Direct= and tell them your situation, they give excellent advice.
