Are these old wives tales about the cold virus or are they true?!

Question: If you take a shower & then immediately walk into a cold environment, then you get a cold or pneumonia. If you walk around barefoot, then you can catch a cold.

Answers: If you take a shower & then immediately walk into a cold environment, then you get a cold or pneumonia. If you walk around barefoot, then you can catch a cold.

Absolutely not true. I've been barefoot everywhere, summer and winter, indoors and outdoors, including in snow for almost eleven years, and I am rarely sick. In fact I used to be sick all the time when I still wore shoes, coughing and sneezing from early fall until late spring no matter what I tried, but in all those years of going barefoot I have called in sick once (for two days, and not even in winter). Even having a minor cough is rare, now.

Your *core* temperature does have an influence on whether or not you'll catch a cold, but being barefoot if you're dressed warmly enough on upper body & head is no problem, nor is a rapid switch of temperature a problem.

not true

I would say not true because you catch it from a germ only.

That's been proven as a myth or an old wives tale. . . in fact, I watched a show where they tested that numerous times and the subject did not get a hint of a cold

They don't make you get sick, they just make you feel colder.

False!

however, if you walk around with wet hair in a cold environment your body has to work harder to heat you up and has less energy to spend on your immune system.
Walking in bare feet is fine however in winter it might be cold brrr

believe it.old is gold

No. You catch a cold from germs and pneumonia from viruses, bacteria and fungi. However, you might lower your immune system and increase your chances of catching a cold. If you are walking around barefooted, you could pick up cold germs.

Not True at all !!! I've been a full time barefooter for a year and a half and am currently going through my second Chicago winter. I leave footprints in the snow when I go out to shovel. If these old wives tales were true I'd be dead by now. If you like barefooting - just do it.
