What medicine do you recommend to take care of post-nasal drip?!

Question: I've had this for a couple of weeks...it's giving me a sore throat, and now I'm having to clear my throat all the time. I'm driving everyone nuts with *u-hum...UH-HUM*!

Yes, I could go to the doctor, but I'd rather know what works for real people.

Plus it'll save me a co-pay and time off of work!

Supposedly, gargling with warm salt water or using a saline spray should relieve the symptoms.

However, I have never been able to do either of those things without gagging. If you can manage it, maybe it'll work.

If not, take some DayQuil or non-drowsy antihistamine to dry you up and call your doctor if it doesn't get better. That's what I would do.

Beer.

hot tea with lemon. and psudeofedrine + antihistamine

Warm salt water works great. If you have a nasal sprayer, just mix it up and put it in the sprayer. Use every couple hrs.

Antronex, but it's not a medicine, it's a supplement that really really works. I have fun giving a couple to people (because it won't interfear with anything you are taking - an antihistamine that won't mess with your T1 & T2s) and then asking in ten minues how they feel and everybody says wow, better.

I got the following from internet search on Sore Throat Remedy:

The most common sore throat remedy is the old fashioned mildly hot salt water gargle with additional ingredients (e.g. cayenne pepper or crushed garlic) to the basic saline solution acts like a mild antiseptic and draws water out of mucus membranes, so it reduces swelling and helps to clear phlegm.

The concentration of the saline solution may vary, depending on the seriousness of the inflammation. You can add 1/2-1 teaspoon of sea salt to 125ml hot water (should taste like sea water) and gargle every hour if it helps. (Spit out the salt water anyway!)

Caution: a strong saline solution dries up your throat; do not use it for dry throat irritation.

If you do not see improvement from home remedies overnight, please visit your doctor, especially if you suspect strep throat. A real strep throat may have severe complications like inflammation of the kidneys or heart or joints.

Hope above would help and you get well soon.
