Can't sleep through noise. What can I do?!

Question: I don't want to take pills. That's a no-go.

I have tried sleeping in different rooms of the house, different kinds of earplugs, and still I cannot get sound sleep. I wake up with every little noise.

Help!

I desperitely need some sound sleep. I feel like I'm getting way too emotional during the day since I haven't had a solid night's sleep in a few days now.

Thanx.

you may laugh but I have found that if you close your eyes, breathe deeply in through your nose and exhale through your mouth, keeping a steady rhythm, It helps to induce sleep. I've been there. It's actually a form of meditation. There is music available that is soft and comforting, that gives you a rhythm to go by. with practice it works well. Google "Sleep meditations" there are a variety of them out there, you just have to find the one that is right for you. I know you said you don't want to take pills, I'm guessing because of the groggy side effects. If that's the case, try buying melatonin, The only thing is, it takes a few nights to build in your system, and the effects of it only last around 30 minutes to an hour, so you won't have that groggy drugged up feeling in the morning.

Find out where the noise is coming from and eliminate it as best you can.

Make sure you get plenty of exercise each day so you will be ready for sleeping at night.

Talk to someone each day about your feelings so that you aren't going to bed all worried about stuff.

Get a noise machine for your room.

In the summer, turn on the window unit air conditioner to blanket the noise from elsewhere.

Cut out caffeine & sugar.

Play relaxing music before bed.

Keep your room as dark as possible while you sleep.

Personally, I use a CD of Gregorian chants and have it play on low volume on the timer for 2 hours, but you could set it for all night if needed.

Ever since I was young I have slept with the radio on. I know it's a noise but it's a constant noise that drowns out the other noises.
