Are there serious health side effects from the long term use of Marijuana?!

Question: I have a "friend" who has been smoking an ounce or more a week for over 5 years now. Is there any serious side effects that can come of this? Also is there any positive or negative of using papers over blunt wraps?

*I smoked for five years straight, as much as your friend, and i can personally tell you it does slow you down, even now sometimes im slow to catch things, dont get me wrong im not stupid. I smoked all through high school and was still top 20 in my class.
anyway, it does make you extremely lazy, and if you become addicted you can end up on a bad path in life (not caring about work, friends, money only pot). And yes it can be addicting, but most of it is addiction to the mental feeling, not a physical addiction like crack/meth/etc.

But tell your friend to be careful b/c it can smell clean, but people lace their sh*t with roach killer to get people hooked on it (from the chemicals) I kid you not.

Im glad i dont smoke it anymore for now, but I am not against pot, i personally wish they would legalized/regulate it like alcohol/tobbaco. There is a lot worse out there, heck i think alcohol is a terrible, terrbile thing to put in your body.

Papers are better b/c they dont have as much tobbaco in them as a blunt wrap, but once youve smoked so much you need more THC to feel it, making you want blunts vs joints

Yeah smoking is unhealthy, no matter what it is. It would be better if your friend just ate her marijuana

It does kill your brain cells. Answers won't come as quickly, or things will seem so much harder to understand. It is also addicting(Been proven). And can cause lung cancer.

After so many years this is the year I have decided to break from it...It's been an enjoyable life so far...but I did not realise at all the level of enjoyment that is still out there besides just Marijuana...

Memory problems will start to sneak up...Awareness level goes way down...Thing is these things are not thought well enough while 'in' Marijuana...There's a big step 'out' there it's upto oneself to decide to take it or not...the question is when?

Weed is the safest drug, legal or illegal, to smock, and a lot of people have this common misconception that you can lose brain cells which it not true: You only have short term memory problems WHILE you are high! The only problems with weed is it's illegal, addicting, and unproductive. And it makes you too lazy!

Pot can produce a psychological dependence. The person absolutely has to have it to carry on.

There is controversy whether it is physically addictive. In that, there is little evidence to support that an individual will go through "physical withdrawal" if they stop.

If you compare a joint to a cigarette, a joint has NO filter whereas a cigarette does to filter out harmful impurities.

So addition to the marijuana, toxins are also inhaled into the lung. This leads the way to lung and bronchial problems---including asthma, bronchitis and even emphysema.

However the most serious consequence is pot is illegal (even if you smoke it in your own home). More then an oz is a lot, and if your friend happens to carry this on him and is stopped for a traffic violation and that pot is found...your friend is looking at a free trip to the police station. He could lose his car and also get a record.

Lastly, people who smoke a great deal of pot have in a way---self-medicated to "feel good" and not have to deal with their life. Pot is most often used for avoidance.

Former Pot Smoker, but I decided it was time to grow up.

Anxiety and depression. My husband had a friend who smoked a lot of marijuana and he gradually started crying a lot and thinking that his work colleagues were ganging up on him. He changed workplaces a lot because of it. It was such a shame because he had two degrees in different fields (must have been smart) and he played guitar and drums in bands and was newly married with a baby on the way but he felt he just could not trust anyone. We have lost contact with him because he moved to another state, however he did stop smoking for a while and tried antidepressants.

ounce a week is alot of grass.
with papers u can taste the weed , the blunt wrap ruins the taste of the weed.
smoke one hitters and an oz can last months
